Providence Pharmacy Program Manager – Physician Enterprise in Washington


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Pharmacy Program Manager – Physician Enterprise. This position can work remotely and candidates can live in AK, WA, MT, OR and CA.

We are seeking a Pharmacy Program Manager – Physician Enterprise to support a pharmaceuticals and vaccine management strategy for Physician Enterprise clinics across PSJH. This position serves as a liaison between Physician Enterprise leadership, PSJH Pharmacy contracting, Strategic Sourcing and regional and local leadership to implement pharmaceutical and vaccine related initiatives. Responsibilities include wholesaler and GPO performance optimization, and coordinating contract implementation and compliance across physician enterprise clinics to ensure optimal purchasing to achieve savings.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a system for tracking, reviewing and effecting the status of contracting and purchasing including but not limited to clinic contract connections, application of appropriate contract pricing, and pricing parity and volume pricing agreements and performance. Reports status regularly to pharmacy and regional PE leadership responsible for purchasing oversight.

  • Support Strategic Sourcing wholesaler contract implementation through interface with regional and service area caregivers responsible for pharmaceuticals management.

  • Under direction of physician enterprise and pharmacy leadership will work with regional and service area contacts to evaluate and implement purchasing logistics, information and best practices as appropriate

  • Coordinate with pharmacy contracting for purchasing optimization. Works with pharmacy leadership to communicate opportunities, obtain agreement and implement optimization tactics.

  • Support meetings of oversight groups and routine and as-needed wholesaler, manufacturer and GPO meetings; tracks decisions/issues/risks/opportunities.

  • Receive Cardinal weekly reports and with management team reviews for variance and opportunity. Tracks performance improvement plans approved by Management team.

  • Collaborate with data analysts to develop reports and dashboards for pharmaceuticals purchasing including reports pertaining to spend, savings, order trends, project status or other reporting needs.

  • Convene and lead regional and service area buyers workgroup. Coordinates and communicates manufacture back order responses. Collaborates with clinics/regions in identification and resolution of systematic concerns with wholesaler service delivery. Interacts with external (drug manufacturers, GPO, distributor) to problem solve contract implementation and wholesaler service delivery.

  • Serve as a resource to internal (Finance, Executives, interest groups, etc.) teams for implementation status and reporting.

  • In collaboration with pharmacy leadership, identify purchasing and contracting opportunities based on trends and new or changing programs and service lines.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field

  • 3 years experience as Certified Pharmacy Technician (equivalent clinic/health care experience may be considered at the discretion of hiring manager).

  • 5 years experience in inventory control, pharmaceuticals and/or vaccine purchasing in a hospital, ambulatory clinic or health system

  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 6 months upon hire

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 3 years Project Management

  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician upon hire
