Providence Supervisor, Supply Chain Operations in Walla Walla, Washington


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Supervisor, Supply Chain Operations to our location in Walla Walla, WA.

We are seeking a Supervisor, Supply Chain Operations to be accountable for the implementation of the One SCM Operations and Logistics strategy at the local ministry under the direction of the Ministry/Site Supply Chain Manager. The Supervisor is specifically responsible for daily supervision of all supply chain operations and logistics functions to include receiving, distribution, picking, put-away, par management, point of use, and maintenance of all inventory and receiving related Materials Management systems and analytic information. The Supervisor develops and conducts employee annual performance reviews under the direction of the Manager.

This position also is responsible for working with key operational stakeholders within their specific ministry as well as their supply chain peers within their specific Supply Chain Region to include participating in and partnering with others on OSCM Operations and Logistics operational improvement efforts and programs ensuring a compliant, effective, and streamlined operational OSCM experience at the local ministry/site for all caregivers they serve.

Under the direction of the Manager, the Supervisor, Supply Chain Operations administers daily Supply Chain operations and logistics functions at acute care ministries, medical group clinics, long term care facilities and warehouse operations for their respective ministry. The position is responsible for the management of all supplies received, stored, and issued at Providence ministries within their respective ministry or site.

The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes Providence Mission, Core Values, and philosophy. In all aspects, he/she serves as a role model for the Core Values and Mission of the organization.

In this position you will:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of department staff which includes scheduling work, monitoring performance to ensure compliance with guidelines, policies, and procedures, providing feedback on performance, and writing and conducting performance reviews. Act on behalf of Manager in their absence as directed.

  • Develop distribution procedures, job standards, and evaluation criteria in coordination with the Ministry/Site Managers.

  • Develop, maintain and monitor distribution systems in coordination with the specific departments involved.

  • Maintain the Lawson Inventory related databases on department computer system and ensures information is current and accurate.

  • Maintain and monitor Distribution statistics. Takes action and/or makes recommendations based upon analysis of information. Monitors Distribution labor hours reporting and makes adjustment to staffing as appropriate.

  • Conducs orientation and in-services education programs for staff. Coordinate all computer and procedure based training for supply chain employees. Develop and expand training documentation and classes for the Lawson/RQC applications through online training, the IS Training department, and in department training sessions.

  • Monitor the Supply areas for neatness and cleanliness to ensure they meet the Joint Commission and OSHA standards and takes action as appropriate to ensure compliance.

  • Participate on project teams and committees as necessary. Participate in professional activities to keep abreast of changes and developments in the Supply Chain Management and Inventory profession.

  • Other duties as assigned or directed.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate’s degree in Healthcare, Business, Finance or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • 4 years of Supply Chain Management or Finance experience with 1 year in a healthcare setting, including at least 1 year in a Supervisory level leadership role

  • Key experience highlights include; healthcare business operations and/or financial management experience in a healthcare setting; experience standardizing disparate processes; experience in process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement
