Description:

Providence is calling a Occupational Therapist Outpatient ( Pmg Se Wa Therapy Southgate , Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Environment of Care/Infection Control/Safety:

  • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in Environment of Care, Infection Control, and Exposure Control manuals and department safety policies/procedures.

  • Evaluates patient/client current physical status and develops individualized, measurable and functional treatment goals and establishes interventions as appropriate to patient age, condition, diagnosis, response to treatment and learning needs.

  • Plans and implements a comprehensive and individualized occupational therapy treatment plan. Modifies and progresses the program in response to changing patient/client needs. Instructs patient/client and caregivers to assist in achieving treatment goals.

  • Provides and maintains accurate, thorough, legible and timely patient related documentation, handwritten and/or computerized, in accordance with department policy and procedure.

  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental policies, procedures, timelines, and productivity standards.

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for patient panel, including timely access to services, appropriate billing practices and quality of patient outcomes.

  • Demonstrates professional behavior and pursues professional development.

  • Promotes injury prevention: in-servicing employees, families/caregivers and community groups as appropriate, and identifying and reporting potential concerns.

  • Participates in department/service goal setting, QI activities, and Mission Practicum activities.

  • Assists in developing, implementing, coordinating and reviewing occupational therapy policies and procedures, and recommend changes as appropriate.

  • Supervises Occupational Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapy Aides and Occupational Therapy students, volunteers and other observers as assigned by Manager/Lead.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager / Lead.

  • Employee completes all tasks and duties accurately and timely within assigned shift. Demonstrates initiative to perform job duties autonomously.

  • Attends mandatory and other education offerings per department and hospital requirements.

  • May assist with education on the unit.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy

  • Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Washington, or temporary license if new graduate awaiting licensing exam results

  • Oregon licensure may be required if needed in the service area

  • NBCOT certification be maintained.

  • Current BLS – Health provider (must be AHA accredited) within 30 days of hire

  • Medicare National Provider Identification Number (NPI) within 30 days of hire.

  • Payer Credentialing.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree or PH. D. in Occupational Therapy

  • 1 year of specialized occupational therapy training or experience to meet a particular department need

  • Knowledge of currently accepted occupational therapy theory and practice, and associated legal and ethical issues.
