Description:

Providence is calling a Courier (Administration, Days, 0.9 FTE) to Providence Medical Group in Walla Walla, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments and Compliance Integrity Program and any other organization or departmental materials related to compliance with laws, regulatory requirements.

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations which directly or indirectly relate to the performance and job expectations.

  • Employee demonstrates knowledge of PSMMC’s policy on Patients Rights and Responsibilities and respects these rights and responsibilities in carrying-out daily activities.

  • Actively participates in departmental and organization performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and joint commission standards.

  • Perform his/her work in a manner that meets or exceeds the level of care and service that PSMMC promotes to the communities we serve.

  • Participate in hospital and department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.

  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to hospital policy, laws and regulations as appropriate.

  • Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection.

  • Maintain positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff in a professional manner.

  • Provide clear, concise, pertinent reports/information.

  • Notify appropriate personnel of problems related to specimen handling and/or transporting

  • Recognize and report signs/symptom of abuse and neglect for all ages of patients served.

  • Respond to the needs of the patient as appropriate.

  • Understand and comply with department Chemical Hygiene Plan.

  • Report all discrepancies and problems immediately.

  • Mentor new employees.

  • Notify appropriate personnel of problems related to specimen handling and/or transporting.

  • Respond to the needs of the patient as appropriate.

  • Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to ensure that specimen handling and transporting is completed at the appropriate time to meet clinical needs and maintain specimen integrity.

  • Ensure that all transported specimens are properly labeled prior to removal from collection facility.

  • Ensure that all specimens are delivered to the PSMMC lab and handed off to a laboratory personnel.

  • Adhere to safety precautions including hazardous wastes and proper sharps disposal.

  • Understand and comply with department Chemical Hygiene Plan.

  • Report all discrepancies and problems immediately.

  • Mentor new employees.

  • Employee completes all tasks and duties accurately and timely within assigned shift. Demonstrates initiative to perform job duties autonomously.

  • Attend mandatory and other education offerings per department and hospital requirements.

  • JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS.

  • Demonstrate a concern for efficiency and cost effectiveness.

  • Keep leadership apprised of problems, workflow and other relevant issues.

  • Stock and clean the supply rooms according to stocking schedule.

  • Willing to adapt personal work schedule to department needs.

  • Assist with staffing issues and problem solving.

  • Provide education for new employees.

  • Manage work flow to ensure that all specimens are delivered to main lab in a timely manner.

  • Assist with tracking inventory and ordering supplies.

  • Review and signs technical procedure and policy manuals annually.

  • Attend at least 50% of staff meetings.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent educ/experience.

  • Valid and current Driver’s License.

  • Valid and current Auto Insurance, reliable transportation to use for work purposes.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Company driver/delivery person
