We are seeking a Pharmacy Clerk who will assist in obtaining insurance information from patients, operate cash register, answer windows of the pharmacy, perform deliveries and other clerical duties.

Areas of Emphasis:
Obtain and verify patient's insurance data with each new prescription
Maintain prescription files daily
Operate cash register for all types of sales and performs daily cash register reconciliation
Answer telephone by third ring and transfers caller to appropriate personnel
Answer pharmacy windows
Deliver medications to floor, Pavilion or Beach Cities locations daily
Assist in all clerical duties in the pharmacy
Maintain narcotic paperwork daily
Assist in stocking of IV's and medications in the pharmacy daily
Assist buyer in putting away drug orders daily
Enter patient insurance data into the computer
Type prescription labels into computer
Maintain confidentiality of all patient and hospital related information
Demonstrate working knowledge of the Hospital Information System and Pharmacy component
Utilize computer based communications and data base system
Comply with all regulatory agency requirements including State Board of Pharmacy and Department of Health and services
Assist with the delivery of drug dispensing activities in a team environment
Seek assistance immediately if unable to solve the problem on own
Assist with orientation of new employees as assigned
Provide input to development and revision of policies and procedures
Promote harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes amongst the Health Care team
Assume responsibility and accountability for own professional growth and practice
Attend assigned staff development activities for department including department meetings
Participate in assigned performance improvement projects and works to correct deficiencies identified
Practice financial responsibility and prudence
Comply with budget and staffing standards
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma
Valid California Driver's License
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position as defined on the RU-91 Form
Ability to communicate orally and written in English
Typing speed of 40 words per minute
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Pharmacy experience
