Providence is calling a Clinical Nurse Specialist (RN) Perioperative and Cardiovascular Services (Full time/Variable shift) to Providence Little Company Of Mary Torrance Hospital in Torrance, CA.
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (RN) Perioperative and Cardiovascular Services - The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) of Cardiovascular and Perioperative Services is a clinical practitioner, consultant, educator and researcher. Inherent in these role components are concepts of change agent, leader, liaison and role model within Patient Care Services to support the Mission Statement and Core Values of Little Company of Mary Hospital. The CNS directs the clinical nursing practice in the NICU and Pediatrics and consults with staff on complex neonatal and pediatric critical care nursing issues.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Direct the clinical nursing practice in Cardiovascular and Perioperative Services
Participate in and/or conduct clinical nursing research that reflects the needs of the Cardiovascular and Perioperative Services, and the community. Interpret, disseminate and incorporate research findings relevant to cardiovascular and perioperative clinical practice, and evaluates practice in light of research findings
Coordinate and assess educational development and clinical competency of the nursing staff in the NICU and Pediatrics; and for ensuring continued neonatal critical care and pediatric nursing competency through educational programs for both the newly-hired and experienced nursing staff
Collaborate with nursing staff, nursing managers and clinical educators in developing providing and evaluating educational programs pertinent to NICU and Pediatrics
Ensure the effective implementation of a coordinated and effective quality and process improvement programs in Cardiovascular and Perioperative Services
Oversee and collaborate with other health care professionals in the delivery of comprehensive education activities
Act as a liaison between patient and family to coordinate and plan care utilizing the nursing process, promoting continuity of care, in collaboration with other health care professionals and the Cardiovascular and Perioperative Services interdisciplinary teams
Support the expansion of clinical practice and compliance with new regulatory requirements in the system by assisting in researching the proposed new test, equipment, technique, regulation, etc.; drafting policies and procedures to institute the new program if it is deemed appropriate by the facility; planning, instituting and coordinating staff training; and planning and participating in the evaluation of the new program
Use performance improvement process for all performance improvement activities to support, monitor, and trend key indicators
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Nursing
Certified as CNS by the California State Board of Nursing, within three years of hire into position
Current California Registered Nurse license
Certification in CNOR within 18 months of hire into position; CVRN within 24 months of hire into position
BLS, ACLS, PALS
3 years recent clinical experience in field of specialization, at least 1 of which shall be in Cardiovascular Surgery or Perioperative Services
Ability to effectively communicate to patients, customers, co-worker or leaders via written or verbal communication
Ability to lead by example, role modeling expert clinical practice
Skilled in collaboration, consultation, conflict resolution, facilitation, and team building
Ability to understand, anticipate and prioritize job responsibilities
Ability to remain flexible in response to change in work demands, variety of projects and varying time lines
Ability to create an environment for safe delivery of patient care and functions with a constant awareness of safety issues identified within the ministry
Ability to work independently but seek consultation when appropriate
Ability to work with multiple departments, hospitals, and their leaders
