Providence is calling a per diem/on-call, variable shift Nursing House Supervisor to Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.

We are seeking an Nursing House Supervisor who will be responsible for ensuring superior patient/customer satisfaction via the highest quality care and service. Direct and supervise functions and activities throughout the medical center in collaboration with department managers and directors. Implement and interpret policies, procedures, standards and regulations for personnel, patients, medical staff, and the public. preferred.

In this position you will:

  • SERVICE:

  • Promote patient, physician and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect

  • Support and participate in activities that foster customer service

  • Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate

  • PEOPLE:

  • Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education

  • Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements

  • Participate actively in department staff meetings

  • Demonstrate mastery of verbal and written communications

  • Assist in identifying and establishing nursing service goals that are consistent with the Medical Center’s values and strategic plans; develop strategies for achieving goals; and assure standards comply with accepted professional and regulatory practices

  • Monitor work processes to ensure optimum productivity and utilization of resources; implement measures to reduce operating costs while maintaining productivity and high quality of service; monitor master staffing schedule and assigns personnel on a shift by shift basis

  • Support and empower staff members, Nurse Managers and Directors to improve the quality of patient care; demonstrate and promotes a collaborative approach to assure the smooth integration of services

  • Assure adherence to approved practices, procedures and standards of care Communicate, negotiate and resolve patient care issues appropriately and effectively with all members of the healthcare team

  • Effectively manage the human resources during assigned shift

  • Assur adequate staffing and skill mix for provision of services; monito performance improvement plans for staff, as needed

  • Effectively provide needed equipment and medications during ancillary off-hours

  • Delegate assignments appropriately based on individual levels of skill/accomplishment

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to provide care in emergency situations and follows established emergency procedures and practices

  • Ensure involvement of patient and/or family in decision making process, as it relates to patient care, end of life and ethical issues

  • Maintain required registry licensure, certification and evaluations

  • Assist in the coordination of student clinical experience and the orientation of new staff

  • Assure that staffing decisions are based on patient acuity and staff competencies

  • Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations Infant, Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric

  • Compile acuity information for each inpatient area and uses the information to provide staffing

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current CA RN license

  • Current BLS-HCP

  • Current ACLS

  • Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • 5 years experience in acute care setting.

  • National Certification (ANAC)

  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
