Providence Student Services Coordinator in Spokane, Washington


Providence is calling a Student Services Coordinator Phc Professional Development, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) to Providence Health Care in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Collaborates with academic institution representatives, the Department Director, Contracts Manager, Risk Manager and legal counsel to ensure that Clinical Affiliation Agreements and other documents are current and meet Providence requirements.

  • Maintains and consistently updates a database of current and archived Clinical Affiliation agreements.

  • Maintains timely and current communication with academic institutions, learners, leaders, and appropriate leaders and departments to ensure that educational experiences are of the highest quality. Seeks opportunities to engage with Advisory Committees and Groups at academic institutions to represent Providence in articulating workforce development needs and engage with key personnel around issues related to student learning experiences.

  • Arranges for faculty and student orientation as needed.

  • Initiates the process that leads to securing of initial identity (name badge, Providence ID number) and access to essential computer systems, applications, and software programs.

  • Establishes and coordinates clinical assignment (preceptor, unit/clinic location, dates, times, etc.).

  • Ensures that appropriate onboarding has been completed (for example, provides information regarding HIPAA training; compliance and integrity; Mission, Vision, and Values; fire safety; others)

  • Ensures the provision of orientation as needed to select units/clinics and procedures (for example, surgical handwashing, documentation guidelines, others).

  • Works with clinic managers, nursing leaders, and others to ensure that student placement schedules are developed for all appropriate patient care clinics/units/areas

  • When appropriate, and in advance of assigned student rotation, selects patients suitable for assessment by student depending on level of preparation and assignment needs.

  • When appropriate, keeps current on project status; makes sure people are aware of project status and what they need to do to keep things moving; redirects project resources and activities to overcome setbacks; elevates project concerns to senior

  • Provides assistance as needed with the finalization of project plan (identification of population/patients, intervention/treatment of interest, data needed for comparison/study, outcome of interest, type of study/analysis, etc.).

  • Provides support for the application to IRB for QI determination as needed.

  • Completes Community Benefit Reports for all student and learner related activities.

  • Maintains personal effectiveness (including dependability, flexibility, and responsiveness to change) even under stress.

  • Effectively communicates with higher level executives and leaders as well as team members and customers.

  • Contributes to a productive, pleasant, and enjoyable work environment, providing the highest quality value-based customer service to internal and external customers.

  • Maintains extensive knowledge of PHC leadership, programs, policies, and procedures related to areas of responsibility.

  • Manages resources effectively.

  • Integrates multiple perspectives, knowledge of best practices, and consideration for resource utilization when developing and implementing educational programs.

  • Actively seeks customer feedback to improve services.

  • Establishes methods to monitor and improve personal and role performance.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree in Health-related field

  • 2 years working within a health care organization

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health-related field

  • Recent experience using EPIC or a similar electronic health record to retrieve information for use by clinicians and/or scholars
