Swedish Health Services RN - GYN Oncology SCI in Seattle, Washington
Description:
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse (1.0 FTE, DAY SHIFT) to work in GYN Oncology SCI at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
This Registered Nurse is responsible for planning and providing comprehensive outpatient care to patients and their families being cared for by the Medical Oncology physicians at the Cancer Institute. The nurse’s understanding of the pathophysiology of cancer as well as the major treatment modalities and investigational protocols enables him/her to participate fully in all phases of care for the patient and their support system.
In this position you will:
Collect pertinent assessment data that includes present condition, past history, physical, spiritual and psychosocial information utilizing input from patient, significant other, and/or healthcare tem members as applicable. Interpret data to identify the patient’s needs and potential problems.
Develop, review, and revise an individualized care plan within the time frame identified in documentation standards. Coordinate care with medical oncology and radiation oncology, and other disciplines (i.e. inpatient, outpatient and assisted living areas). Establishe expected outcomes that are measurable and achievable.
Evaluate patient’s response to care and initiates independent and/or collaborative changes where appropriate. Triage as needed for any immediate interventions necessary and implements appropriate actions based upon assessment. Document changes in condition and response to interventions.
Utilize nursing process to incorporate teaching into delivery of patient care. Document teaching and learning.
Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice by attending continuing education, serving on hospital committees and/or completing institutional and unit-specific competencies. Maintain annual clinical and institutional competencies.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher within 6 years of hire -or- equivalent educ/experience
A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis at each facility by the most senior administrative nursing leader in consultation with the Human Resources leader
RNs employed prior to 1/1/13 are encouraged to obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Nursing, but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administation, required within 90 days
One (1) year current surgical nursing experience, preferably gynecological in an acute care facility
Preferred qualification for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing upon hire
Oncology Certified Nurse
Experience in an outpatient clinic setting
