We are recruiting forour March 2020 cohort.
The RN Fellow training
program provides an opportunity for RN's with a minimum of 12 months of RN
experience to be oriented to a new specialty.
Our RN Fellow trainingprogram provides participants with:
The opportunity to experiencethe program in a setting that provides a consistent and structuredexperience.
Integrated classroom andclinical experiences under the guidance and support of Preceptors,Clinical Educators and Professional Development Specialists. Clinicalexperience is under the direct one on one supervision of a Preceptor.
Simulated Clinical Experiencewith high fidelity mannequins, which offers the opportunity to practice ina safe and educationally structured environment.
Numerous professionaldevelopment opportunities both at the individual level as well asopportunities to participate in shared leadership, our Nursing Qualityleadership group, among others.
Registered Nurses at Swedishare responsible for providing nursing care adapted to individual patientneeds based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation. He or she is also responsible fordelegation and supervision of personnel that participate in the provisionof care to ensure that patient needs and expected outcomes are met.
In this position youwill:
Collect pertinent assessmentdata including present condition, past history, physical, spiritual andpsychosocial information
Develop, review and revise anindividualized care plan
Communicate effectively withpatients, families, physicians and coworkers
Utilize the nursing process toprepare for discharge/transfer, beginning with admission and continuingthroughout hospitalization
Application Process
Applications are screened bythe Human Resources Department. Applicants that successfully meet therequirements of the position will be contacted for a phone interview withthe Nurse Recruiter.
Additional interviews will beconducted with the hiring manager and peer interview team for thoseapplicants who are successful in the HR screening process.
Important informationregarding the RN Fellow Program:
The RN Fellow program isan intensive training program with strict schedules.
We cannot approve any voluntarytime off during the orientation period (estimated 12-24 weeks)
Nurses in the training programare required to sign a 2 year agreement. Participants agree toremain employed as a RN at Swedish for a period of at least 2 years aftercompletion of the RN Fellow program or are required to pay a proratedamount to the time spent employed by Swedish.
Qualifications:
To be considered for theRN Fellow Program:
At least 12 months of recent RNexperience
Active Washington State RNlicense by November 15th, 2019.
Current Basic Life Support(BLS) card must be from the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.ACLS, NRP, and/or PALS training and certification will occur during theorientation process, if applicable.
Strong preference is given toBSN graduates or those enrolled in a BSN program who will complete theireducation prior to the cohort’s start date.
All Registered Nurses without aminimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degreein Nursing or higher within 6 years of hire.
Willingness to commit tofull-time employment for 2 years. RN Fellows sign a 2 year agreement withSwedish.
Ability to work evening, nightand weekend shifts.
