Swedish Health Services Regional Director, Behavioral Health Services in Seattle, Washington
The Regional Director of Behavioral Health Services will provide strategic leadership for the Swedish Regional Behavioral Health acute care strategy and operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of behavioral health clinical services and a connected experience of care and clinical excellence for the patients that we serve. This includes directing business operations and all facets of clinical performance, strategic operations, fiscal oversight, business plan implementations, and process improvements. This position leads and facilitates regional process strategy for clinical practice and operations for behavioral health services. This position consults on practice standards of care throughout the Swedish region. Plans, coordinates and supervises the clinical and administrative functions in accordance with system polices and goals. Accountable for developing, implementing and managing a model of care and services that supports strategic goals for behavioral health services. Plans and develops appropriate strategic relationships for the delivery of behavioral health services. Facilitates collaborative working relationships with programs and departments within the institutions to assure appropriate quality and coordination of care for all acute care patients. Works collaboratively with Executive Medical Director to ensure optimal behavioral health service delivery to patients and medical staff in our acute care setting.
Develop and implement Swedish region goals and objectives for acute care behavioral health services in conjunction with the Executive Medical Director and CMO/CNO, ensuring consistency across the continuum of care; obtaining input from physicians, supervisors, staff, and hospital specific senior leaders. Additionally, partner and collaborate with other clinical leaders to ensure delivery of the Swedish Mission.
Work collaboratively with ambulatory behavioral health leaders to ensure consistency across the continuum of care.
Develop an integrated process for preparing and implementing Swedish Region strategic plans for acute behavioral health services. Periodically review and update strategic plans to reflect changing customer needs and strategic opportunities.
In the acute care setting, prepare behavioral health services capital equipment budget and operating budgets in collaboration with campus executives. Monitor behavioral health services operating statements to assure that budgetary goals are met; and significant deviations are adequately understood and appropriate action taken.
In conjunction with Medical Director, physicians, Clinical Education and Practice, and leaders, develop common standards, protocols, policies and procedures for all activity of behavioral health services.
Develop behavioral health services leaders and members who will meet the qualitative, quantitative and Mission related goals established for Acute Care Services.
Develop and mentor relationships with behavioral health clinical leaders. Lead management team in planning, organizing and responding to identified trends and creates opportunities for growth, development and improvement of services.
Develop and implement the delivery of behavioral health services through integration of services across the continuum of care.
Provide mentoring, support and leadership using the Mission goals and objectives of Swedish.
In conjunction with the Medical Directors and behavioral health services leadership team, maintains behavioral health services in a state of readiness for inspections by accrediting agencies such as the State of Washington, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and OSHA.
Develop and promote marketing strategies for behavioral health services.
Work collaboratively with Medical Director and physicians to assure quality, timely and appropriate clinical services are provided to all patients.
Provide leadership to behavioral health services in a way that maximizes quality through the development and implementation of quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives; cost effectiveness through efficient and effective delivery of quality clinical services; and support the programs and operational needs through involvement and participation in program and service development in the system.
Design, develop, implement and evaluate inpatient Behavioral Health infrastructure to achieve the highest level of service, Swedish strategic goals and Quadruple Aim
Contribute to special projects that require multi-disciplinary approaches, serving as counsel and facilitator to build bridges with other departments and support services
Promote a culture of excellence, quality patient care, and outstanding patient experience.
Required experience and education for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, behavioral health, or other field
Master's Degree in Mental health, Health Administration, Public Health, or Business Administration
5 years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health services management required, preferably in multi-institutional behavioral health services
Upon time of hire, Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
Valid Washington State driver’s license
Possession of the minimum (or greater) auto insurance coverage as mandated by the state of Washington. Must have personal transportation available to travel between campuses
