Swedish Health Services Pharmacist In Charge - Swedish Redmond Campus in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Pharmacist In Charge (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) at the Swedish Ambulatory Surgery Center in Redmond, WA.

The Pharmacist-in-Charge for the Swedish Redmond Ambulatory Surgery licensed as Ambulatory Surgical Facility (ASF) by the State of Washington Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission (PQAC), shall have the authority and responsibility to assure that the areas where medications are ordered, received, stored, prepared, or administered are in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal statutes and regulations.

Additionally, the Pharmacist-in-Charge shall share in the oversight and promotion of the safe procurement, storage, use, and disposal of medications in the Swedish Medical Group Clinics, which are licensed as Health Care Entities (HCE) by the State of Washington PQAC .Frequent travel to SMG HCE clinics is required. Assessments, observations and the mastery and early adoption of evidence-based best practice for medication safety is expected. Frequent collaboration with clinic staff and leadership is expected.

This position may provide functional supervision of professional, para-professional and/or support staff. Other duties as required.

In this position you will:

  • Maintains current knowledge of all Heath Care Entity (HCE) (WAC 246-904) and Ambulatory Surgical Facility (ASF) regulations (WAC 246-330).

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all applicable federal regulations.

  • All required records for medication inventory at the ASF(s) are maintained in an organized and readily retrievable manner.

  • All ASF policies are current and in date.

  • ASF license(s) are in good standing (not expired).

  • A relevant presentation has been completed in the last 12 months (HCE requirements, safe use of meds, etc.).

  • In the last 12 months, a cost saving initiative has been identified and presented to the organizational leadership.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy

  • Current license to practice as a registered pharmacist in the State of Washington

  • 5 years’ experience as a Pharmacist. A combination of training, education and work history that provides the equivalent knowledge & skills will be considered in lieu of the experience requirement.

  • Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations that govern pharmacy practice at the local, state, and federal level

  • Familiarization with the principles of safe medication use, preferably in ambulatory environment

  • Experience with inventory control, reconciliation of invoices, and record keeping requirements

  • Valid Washington State driver’s license is required

  • Must have personal transportation available to travel between campuses

  • Possession of the minimum (or greater) auto insurance coverage as mandated by the state of Washington also required
