Swedish Health Services Nutrition Educator - Diabetes Education Center in Seattle, Washington
Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Nutrition Educator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Diabetes Education Center at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the diabetes education program at the Swedish Diabetes Education Center. Educates patients about diabetes medical nutrition therapy and diabetes self-management in individual or group settings. Assess patient's self-care needs and his/her ability to manage diabetes.
In this position you will:
Applies nutrition care process for developing the patients care plan which includes assessing the needs of the patient and family, formulating the educational plan, implementing, evaluation and revisions as needed
Completes necessary documentation per department policies and procedures
Participates in Diabetes Education Team staff meetings
Maintains professional registration as a Registered Dietitian and certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator, either by continuing education or examination
Applies accepted standards such as the American Diabetes Association’s Nutrition Practice Guidelines, and American Diabetes Association Clinical Practice Recommendations
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics.
Current national registration as a Registered Dietitian
Washington State Certified Dietitian
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible for certification
If CDE eligible, must certify within one year of employment
Four (4) years nutrition experience, preferably one year in ambulatory care setting or community health
One thousand hours of diabetes education experience in a variety of settings
Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics
