Swedish Health Services Medical Imaging Engineer in Seattle, Washington


Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Medical Imaging Engineer (1.0 FTE, Days) at Swedish Shared Services in Seattle, WA.

This is an expert level field service engineer position that operates with limited supervision and is responsible for independently and collaboratively managing the Medical Imaging Engineering (MIE) asset program for all medical imaging modalities (X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Radiography, PACS). Asset management involves: performing repairs and maintenance, managing documentation of equipment maintenance histories, RFP authoring, equipment planning and purchase, reviewing service contracts, managing and purchasing parts purchase, and verifing the adequacy and completion of vendor performed routine service and repairs, and performing first response and investigation of imaging system performance issues. The MIE must be able to function independently, setting individual schedules and work priorities, while balancing the service requirements from multiple customes.

In this position you will:

  • Schedule and coordinate equipment service in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, Swedish Health Service policies, Department specific requirements and manufacturer’s guidelines.

  • Provides and ensures timely written and verbal communication to insure the coordination of preventive maintence, repairs, upgrades and service request with clinical staff, supervisors, managers, vendor representative, diagnostic physics and hospital administration.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g. cleaning, calibrations, alignments, physical/mechanical safety checks, etc), major and minor repairs, and just in time services as requested by the clinical departments or diagnostic physics on equipment in the MIE asset management program.

  • Coordinate and review for completeness and adequacy all vendor contracted preventive maintenance and repairs.

  • Review the accuracy of service reports, including parts orders, vendor charges/invoices other supporting documentation.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's DegreeElectronics/Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering or equivalent degree in a technical/electronics field

  • Completed specialized service training in two or more of the following medical imaging specialties: Radiography & Fluoroscopy, Computed Radiography, Digital Radiography, Mammography (FFDM and Tomography), Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography, SPECT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Picture Archival and Communication Systems (PACS)

  • 5 years experience in field service of medical imaging equipment
