Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Interventional Radiology Technologist (0.9 FTE, Day Shift) to Interventional Radiology Department at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA

Assists with the performance of a variety of technical procedures including but not limited to percutaneous interventions, diagnostic and therapeutic vascular procedures, invasive procedures, biopsies, etc, under the direct supervision of a physician. Participates in all daily duties necessary to perform high-quality patient care and imaging within the Interventional Radiology Department. Responsible for obtaining optimal radiographs and assisting the physician in an aseptic environment. Must be capable of patient monitoring and demonstrate knowledge of appropriate response to changes in patient condition. Must maintain in-depth knowledge of complex diagnostic and interventional supplies and equipment and be capable of assisting with their use. Must be available for on-call shifts as necessary.

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrate functional understanding of various interventional radiology imaging equipment to include digital x-ray and computer assisted applications.

  • Maintain ability to calibrate and perform analysis functions for vessel diameter and stenosis.

  • Understand the set-up and operation of monitoring equipment and vital sign recording. Provides for documentation in procedure flowsheet as necessary.

  • Assess patient vital signs and condition as required, notifying physician of any changes.

  • Maintain general knowledge of department medication stock and routes of administration.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a cohesive team member with all physicians (surgeons and interventional radiologists) fellows, residents, anesthesiologists, anesthesia techs, OR scrub techs, OR nurses, IR technologists, IR nurses, students and other ancillary department staff in a variety of roles including IR scrub tech, circulator, and monitor.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of a power injector and understands contrast utilization, precautions, and reaction treatments.

  • While monitoring case, record all components of case on monitor sheet.

  • Must be available for on-call shifts as necessary to include weekdays and weekends as assigned for vascular, neuro and interventional radiology.

  • Demonstrate ability to assist with neuro intervention procedures at a comprehensive stroke center and is knowledgeable and competent prepping and using the various supplies and equipment used in both IR only and neuro IR/OR hybrid procedures.

  • Must be adaptable to varied working conditions and physician preferences Participates in research and drug trials when applicable.

  • Maintain skills for withdrawing and infusing through intra-arterial and intra-venous catheters.


Required qualifications for this position:

  • Successful completion of a formal Radiologic Technologist program.

  • At the time of hire must have Radiologic Technologist registry by ARRT.

  • Post primary certification in Interventional Radiology required within 2 years of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).

Preferred qualifications for this position:

  • 2 years experience as an Interventional Technologist.

  • ACLC Certification
