Providence is calling a Cook (1.0 FTE, Evenings) to work in Food and Nutrition Services at Providence Mount St. Vincent in Seattle, Washington. The Neighborhood Cook is responsible for providing seamless customer service in the area of meals/floor stock/nourishment/food preferences. Handles food according to HACCP guidelines and is aware of minimum standards for a quality food service operation. Adheres to standard recipes and plating guidelines. Responsible for accuracy of all assembled meal orders, maintaining par stocks, ordering supplies and rotating product for maximum quality. Interacts with other employees in a friendly and courteous manner. Acts as an effective customer service liaison to all customers and facility departments

In this position you will:

  • Responsible for stocking the neighborhood kitchen and maintaining inventory of all food and supplies.

  • Maintains established standards in the areas of food presentation, recipes, portion control, food security, safety and sanitation.

  • Plans, develops, controls and evaluates food for the neighborhood; Develops cooking methods and recipes.

  • Oversees cleaning of counters, floors, and all appliances.

  • Hosts food activities for neighborhood programs and assists Recreation Therapists and Dietary Hosts with activities involving food.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Food Handler's Permit (or must obtain within 14 days of hire)

  • Three (3) years experience as a short-order cook

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • ServSafe certification desirable

  • Short order cooking and customer service experience
