Swedish Health Services Construction Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Construction Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Facility Management at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
The Construction Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for refrigeration and HVAC project installations, project planning and review, cost estimation, and will have over site of project budget ensuring they meet budgetary requirements. In addition, this position will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of hospital refrigeration and HVAC systems and components, ensuring heating and cooling systems are operational for Medical Center buildings. May direct the work of less skilled mechanic(s) and maintenance staff on projects as part of a collaborative team.
In this position you will:
Provide scope assessments, cost estimates, schedule development, and disruption/outage planning for projects. Conduct plan and submittal/RFI reviews, subcontractor bidding and coordination, and manages overall project costs within allotted budgets as required
Able to take direction from diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and to install all refrigeration systems (Chillers, Cooling Towers, refrigeration and ice machines, specialty lab ultra-low freezers, Heat Exchangers, AHUs, pumps, motors, VAVs, Fan coils, Valves (pneumatic and DDC), VFDs, and all associated controls) efficiently and effectively
Repair existing built-up heating and cooling systems and all associated controls, or selecting materials to make installations or repairs. Ability to prepare repair estimates and to document troubleshooting, repair and re-commissioning requirements.
Ensure electrical projects meet established timelines by managing own time and the times of others team members / apprentice
Oversee permit applications and schedules regulatory inspections. Must be very familiar with electrical codes and use of electrical code reference material. Maintain necessary licensing and code requirements per City, County, State, and CMS/DNV.
Will be responsible maintaining inventory of gases pertaining to this trade in accordance to applicable codes. The Journeyman will ensure that safe handling storage (recovery, reclamation, and recycling) of refrigerant is managed and documented.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Basic certification in HVAC from an accredited trade school
Ten (10) or more years experience in refrigeration/HVAC systems installation, servicing, and maintenance
Four (4) years use of common and sophisticated tools and systems in an acute care facility.
Licensed Refrigeration Mechanic Class A or C
City of Seattle Boiler Operator License at time of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Two year trade school certificate emphasizing HVAC, electrical and building control systems
Successful completion of a 4 year Apprenticeship from a recognized Union emphasizing HVAC
HS diploma or GED
