Swedish Health Services Administrative Supervisor - Nursing Supervisors in Seattle, Washington


Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Administrative Supervisor (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) at Swedish Ballard in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a highly skilled Administrative Supervisor who will oversee the medical center operations on shift of responsibility to ensure that quality patient care is delivered in accordance with Swedish Medical Center's mission, vision, and values.

In this position you will:

  • Make daily shift rounds and communicate with the nurse in charge to assure that patient care needs are met. Assist nursing staff in the delivery of patient care, as needed, by interpreting and enforcing standards. Assist with the provision of patient care in crisis situations.

  • Communicate concerns regarding delivery of patient/family care to the Manager. Assist the nursing staff in their role of patient advocate to clarify and evaluate ethical and/or legal issues, and communicates to the Manager as appropriate.

  • Accountable for appropriate placement of patients. Allocate resources for quality care. Assist in achieving the department budget plan to provide cost-effective patient care delivery. Utilize the Manager’s staffing guidelines to meet patient care needs. Communicates to the Manager changes in the staffing plan which affect quality care and the department’s budget. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement in the efficient provision of patient care.

  • Provide feedback to the Manager regarding staff performance and competency on an ongoing basis and as requested. Contribute to the identification of staff learning needs in collaboration with the Manager. Facilitate active participation of staff in educational and professional activities. Guide staff in meeting existing or additional role expectations. As a mentor, counsels staff in problem solving and decision-making. Assist Manager of Nursing Resource Office with management of nursing float pool personnel.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing Baccalaureate degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing, or must attain a BSN within 5 years of hire.

  • Currently licensed through the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).

  • Five (5) years of clinical experience

  • Two (2) years of leadership experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in nursing or related field
