THE ROLE

This role oversees Regional staff and resources for all functions related to strategy, business development, marketing, and communications.

This includes directing the Regional strategic planning process, including development of goals, initiatives, and performance monitoring to ensure fulfillment of the Mission, Vision, and overall PSJH strategic plan. The position works closely with local Ministry leadership teams to develop Ministry strategic plans that align with Regional and Health System strategic plans. This role identifies opportunities to expand and develop programs and services across the continuum of care and to enhance Regional presence. The person in this role is responsible for analyzing the current internal and external environment and providing business development opportunities that will assist in the growth of the Region’s ministries and respond to the needs of the communities served. This person is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with physician organizations, physicians, hospital staff, and the community. The person in this role is responsible for consistently demonstrating behaviors that model the PSJH mission and core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage Regional resources related to strategy, business development, marketing and communications.

  • Oversee Regional and Ministry strategic planning process in collaboration with Ministry CEOs, the Regional CEO, and the President of Strategic Services.

  • Coordinate development of local Integrated Strategic and Financial Plans and the alignment of those plans with Regional and Health System plans.

  • Oversee the strategic implementation process, associated accountabilities, and reporting.

  • Provide direction to Ministry teams as they develop service line plans that support overall Regional strategy.

  • Facilitate analysis of existing and new business opportunities and ventures with respect to Regional strategies. This includes both retrospective review and proactive development of new ventures, programs and services, and strategic partnerships which limit financial risk, optimize reimbursement, increase overall market share, and improve the image of PSJH both locally and across the Region.

  • Develop and implement Regional employer group and physician relations strategies and goals including consistency of reporting results and activity outcomes.

  • Support growth of integrated physician structures which complement St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare and/or other integrated entities.

  • Develop physician strategies that support Regional strategy and local Ministry needs.

  • Ensure that marketing and communication needs of the local Ministries are met.

  • Ensure alignment of marketing and communication resources with strategic and business development objectives.

  • Help lead integration of efforts and standardization of work between the Health System, the Region, and local Ministries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required education/experience for this position include:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field.

  • Seven (7) years demonstrated success in strategic planning and business development within an organization, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in developing comprehensive health system and/or hospital strategic plans with a strong ability to think futuristically and strategically.

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare environment and trends, as well as the ability to translate trends into potential strategies.

  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills that enable comfortable interaction with senior executives, boards, physicians, community sectors, and outside vendors.

  • Advanced business development skills necessary to develop and implement new ventures, programs, and services including identification of elements for a comprehensive pro forma such as capital investments, staffing, and operating expenses.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge and/or demonstrated experience in developing healthcare delivery systems including, but not limited to, MSO, foundations, and hospitals.

  • Proven ability to create, negotiate, and execute partnership agreements with physicians and outside organizations. This requires strong financial and analytical skills that are integrated with a working knowledge of market conditions and demographics.

  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize in a fast‐paced, rapidly changing environment with success at simultaneously managing a variety of complex projects.

  • Able to assume a high degree of independent functioning while demonstrating prudent decision‐making, autonomy, and flexibility.

  • Self‐motivated with the ability to consistently identify opportunities to enhance strategic planning, business development, and marketing processes and operations.

  • Ability to treat all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

  • Success in following all policies developed by the Information Systems department to support change management, confidentiality, and security.

  • Ability to respect the dignity, confidentiality, and privacy of patients.

  • Ability to maintain organizational, employee, and patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Success in cooperating fully in all risk management activities and investigations.

  • Ability to report promptly any suspected or potential violations to laws, regulations, procedures, policies and practices, and cooperates in related investigation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable compliance and legal requirements of the job based on the scope of practice of the position.

Preferred education/experience for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Physician integration experience.
