Providence Student Nurse Assistant in Santa Monica, California


Providence is calling a Student Nurse Assistant to Ortho for Per-Diem Day Shift to the Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA

We are seeking a Student Nurse Assistant who will perform delegated routine, predictable patient care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care environment. This Graduate Nurse is accountable for the delivery of safe, compassionate, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practice in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Key functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.

In this position you will:

  • Employ a Professional Care Relationship with Colleagues, Patients, and Families

  • Complete and document delegated patient care tasks. Contribute to the advancement of patient goals. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate

  • Perform and maintain currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served

  • Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by being aware of the patient’s plan of care, to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs of those we serve

  • Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team; facilitates formal and informal learning for patient/families, nursing, other members of the healthcare team, and community

  • Accountable for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence, and best practice into nursing care; use data and evidence to improve patient outcomes. Align patient safety, self-safety and environmental safety as equally important for best outcomes

  • Engage in ongoing professional development; Promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrate and disseminate research and evidence based practice

  • Model professional behaviors as a representative of the nursing profession


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing Diploma required upon hire

  • Documentation as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the State of California may be required in some clinical areas

  • Documentation of current completion of American Heart Basic Life Support is required

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hirePre-licensure graduate nurses in this position may or may not be interviewed and/or accepted into a TIP position

  • Successful completion and eligible for state licensure from accredited Associate Degree, BSN (preferred) or ELM (preferred) nursing program

  • Requires ability to organize and prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely and effective manner

  • Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position

  • Proficiency with Information Technology; such as electronic health records, communications systems, computers and equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the position

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Degree/Diploma required upon hire or Master's Degree Entry Level Master's (ELM) program of registered nursing/Diploma required upon hire
