We are seeking a Lift and Transportation Aide who will demonstrate the capacity to assist staff in the safe lifting, transferring and/or transporting of patients as specified by the direct Supervisor/Lead. Other responsibilities include transporting and lifting patients, assisting in the care of patients requiring moderate to total assistance in moving, checking and performing corrective action on designated equipment, transporting other items such as specimen transport, blood pick-up, and Central Service pick-up and identifies and reports changes of abnormal findings in patient status such as consciousness, pain, bleeding and vital signs that occur during the lift or transporting.
In this position you will:
Conduct job duties in accordance with Health Center and Department procedures
Fulfill Lift/Transportation Associate role within the scope of practice by:
Transport and Lift patients
Assist in the care of patients requiring moderate to total assistance in moving
Perform lifting of all patients identified by the Lift/Transportation Associate and by the Charge Nurse
Identify/report changes/abnormal findings in patient status such as consciousness, pain, bleeding and vital signs that occur during the lift
Check and perform corrective action on designated equipment
Perform diverse tasks as directed, such as specimen transport, blood pick-up, and Central Service pick-up
Continuous collecting data on all units who need assistance in transportation
Assist in the care of patients requiring moderate to total assistance in moving
Continuously be available to direct supervisor for all patients who need assistance in transporting/lifting
Seek assistance when needed
Will work as a team with another Transportation Associate every shift
Implement care based on hospital standards
Practice in a collaborative and proactive manner in all interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff:
Demonstrate flexibility adjusting to changes in patient acuity and workload
Participate in committees and special projects
Identify risk management issues and communicating potential problems to the appropriate personnel.
Perform peer assessment and evaluation
Practice cost effective methods in the delivery of care:
Use available resources efficiently
Establish priorities in providing care
Demonstrate understanding of overall Health Center needs and using downtime to assist others
Demonstrate responsibility for own professional practice in regards to:
Time and attendance
Confidentiality
Demonstrate professional behavior to patients, visitors, and staff
Obtain necessary knowledge and skill to maintain competence
Complete mandatory requirements
Attend and participate in Team meetings
Volunteer for and accept assignments or projects
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
Education to meet certification, license or registration
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card or Heart Saver
Competent in use of Computer Systems (Transport-Tracking System)
Working knowledge of beds, gurneys, wheelchairs, cardiac chairs, oxygen tanks, transfer boards, gait belts, and lift equipment
Effective oral and written communication skills
Capable of dealing effectively with multiple demands and events
Able to prioritize, organize and coordinate patient care as specified by the primary care provider
Preferred qualifications:
- CNA/RNA/PSA with minimum six (6) months patient care experience in an acute hospital setting
