Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Manager Unit to join our growing Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: 1.0 FTE, Full Time. Exempt Management Position.

About our NICU: The only Level III NICU in the region, our NICU is supported by three Neonatologists and eight Neonatal Nurse Practitioners. Our staff and providers participate in evidence-based quality improvement practices including reduced antibiotic utilization by >40% in 2018 and we offer neonatal cooling therapy. A $10 million dollar renovation was completed, including an expansion of the NICU space from 3000 to 15,000 square feed, private rooms, and the number of bassinets from 17 to 27. Our unit also includes an observation area, lactation room, space to accommodate the most advanced technology, and for families to gather. We work with Sacred Heart Medical Center and Seattle Children's Hospital to provide the most up to date care for babies in our community, allowing them to stay closer to home.

About our Pediatrics Unit: Children from 1 day to 18 years receive around-the-clock, family centered care from our full time Pediatric Hospitalist providers and caregivers. Our unit features 20 private rooms, flat-screen TVs, day beds, LodgeNet, a family room with a kitchen, dining area, laundry facility, library, and a 15-foot, 880 gallon salt-water aquarium! Our spacious playroom has three separate areas, each with age appropriate activities, and is supervised by the region's only Child Life Specialist program. We work with Sacred Heart Medical Center and Seattle Children's Hospital, ensuring the finest, most up-to-date pediatric practices for children in our community, including outpatient pediatric oncology services in collaboration with the child's oncology provider.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program

  • Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing or higher from an accredited educational institution, or Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing or higher in progress, required. If Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing or higher is in progress, must be completed within three years from date of hire into the position

  • Current WA State RN Licensure

  • Current American Heart Association Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU and or Pediatric nursing experience required (level III or higher).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICU nursing experience in a level III or higher department

  • Previous management experience

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Under the general direction of the VP Nursing, remains responsible for the day-to-day operation of the nursing unit; Ensures quality patient care by establishing and maintaining clinical standards of practice and care while meeting unit staffing requirements; Assesses plan and evaluates the unit orientation and education requirements and assure that they are met; Remains responsible for the annual budget preparation including operational and capital items; Assures that hospital policies and procedures are updated and participates and coordinates unit and organizational quality improvement activities; Keeps current in Clinical issues and trends; Appropriately intervenes in patient, family, and physician issues in a timely manner; Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

  • Establish, promote, and implement patient care standards based on the nursing process and current nursing research.

  • Utilize available resources (Clinical Education Department, Internet etc.) for state-of-the-art nursing practice and education.

  • Ensure that a monthly staffing schedule is completed and posted based on appropriate levels of 24 hours staffing according to acuity, census and, as possible, staff requests.

  • Communicate regularly with the VP Nursing or designee that involve staff issues, critical patient care concerns, unit staffing changes, quality issues, and other pertinent data.
