Kadlec RN OR - Ambulatory Surgery (Temporary) in Richland, Washington


Kadlec Clinic has an exciting opportunity for a OR Registered Nurse (RN) (Temporary) to join our growing Ambulatory Surgery team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: Full time, 1.0. 8 hour day shifts.

The Surgery Center operates Monday-Friday, without call. This position supports Kadlec Tri-City Regional Surgery Center on Goethals Drive.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.

  • One year recent operating room experience-or-successful completion of a Peri-Operative Program required.

  • Current WA State RN Licensure required.

  • Current WA State RN Licensure required.

  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire into the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN from an accredited educational institution preferred.

  • Certification in related specialty area preferred.

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills preferred.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

As a Registered Nurse you will direct responsibility and accountability for the care of the patient during the intraoperative phase of surgery and endoscopic procedures; Utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care Peri-Operative phase; Coordinates total patient care in coordination with other health care team members; Functions as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient’s Bill of Rights; Demonstrates professional growth and development by accepting responsibility and accountability for one’s nursing practice; Serves as a liaison between physicians, staff, patients and their families to facilitate safe and effective flow of patient care in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of Kadlec Regional Medical Center; and assists in providing direction and supervision of nursing and support staff, as well as perform related duties as assigned.

  • Acts as a resource to staff, physicians, and visitors.

  • Verifies the operative procedure using the consent form, patient’s statement and if needed the surgeon’s verification prior to procedure.

  • Notes the condition of the skin for rashes, bruises, lesions and previous incisions.

  • Determines mobility of the body utilizing the patient’s statement, range of motion, and the history & physical.

  • Reports deviation of diagnostic studies such as lab or radiology reports.

  • Communicates and documents degree of achievement to members of the health care team, in a verbal and written report.

  • Continuously evaluates the patient’s needs, plan of care, and nursing actions, adjusting the plan as required to provide optimum patient outcomes.

  • Identifies presence of prosthesis such as dentures, pacemakers and joint prosthesis/implants.

  • Notes nutritional status such as patient has been NPO.

  • Verifies allergies to medication, food, or chemicals.

  • Communicates and documents physiological data to other members of the health care team in verbal or written report, including data which may be relevant to discharge planning.

  • Elicits patient expectations of care and outcome of surgery.

  • Determines level of knowledge and ability to understand, such as language barrier and seeks assistance as necessary.

  • Identifies philosophical, religious and cultural beliefs concerning the intraoperative phase, such as blood transfusions, disposition of limbs, and sacraments.

  • Provides positioning aids during the intra-operative phase to prevent skin breakdown or impairment of the nervous or vascular system
