Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Safety Diversion Officer join our growing Pharmacy Administration team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: 1.0 FTE, Full Time, Day Shift.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or PharmD in Pharmacy Practice Degree

  • Current Washington State Pharmacist Licensure

  • 2 years institutional pharmacy practice experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Institutional residency certificate from an ASHP accredited residency program

  • Experience in risk management and/or Quality Improvement

  • Lean experience

  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

As a Medication Safety and Diversion Officer (MSDO) you will coordinate all medication safety and diversion mitigation activities within the organization. Work collaboratively within the pharmacy leadership team and with other multi-disciplinary health care professionals in developing and implementing interdisciplinary error-prevention strategies that focus on system analysis and effectively reduce the risk of medication errors. The MSDO is responsible to manage drug diversion processes and the related mitigation activities. The MSDO will lead the Medication Safety Team and support and facilitate the Diversion Team to help optimize and facilitate positive outcomes for both teams. This person will investigate medication errors based on severity, or potential severity, in order to improve medication systems and staff performance. Manages and coordinates data collection and analysis on medication safety-related medical error measurement and improvement data. The MSDO actively engages early adoption of nationally recognized best practices (ISMP, NCCMERP, ASHP, JCAHO, etc.) for medication safety and directs the work of the Medication Safety Committee to promote and sustain best practices on the safe use and reporting of medications. The MSDO also serves as an educational resource for safe medication practice standards.

  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, pharmacists and clinical colleagues within KRMC and PSJH to establish clinical best practice standards within KRMC hospital and clinics.

  • Engages in drug policy by writing, reviewing and providing oversight related to safety.

  • Participates in the pharmacy residency program and/or pharmacy student/intern precepting.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Leadership Council in regards to medication safety throughout Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

  • Models professionalism and leadership and is an active member of the Pharmacy Leadership Council.

  • Collaborates to develop best practice protocols that would enhance safe and effective use of medications.
