Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Health Information Coordinator to join our growing Health Information Management team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: Full time, 1.0, Days

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in progress, from an accredited education institution. If Associate’s Degree is in progress, it must be completed within three years from date of hire into the position

  • 2 years of acute care Health Information Management experience

  • 1 year of supervisory experience required –or- three years progressively responsible Health Information Management experience may be considered in lieu of supervisory experience

  • Epic HIM certification within one (1) year from date of hire into position

Preferred Qualification:

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from AHIMA

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Health Information, directs and coordinates activities of the data integrity and compliance monitoring staff in HIM to assure efficient workflow; Ensures accurate monitoring and reporting on documentation standards compliance for the medical center; Performs daily monitoring of systems and workflow; Monitors productivity, maintains appropriate staffing levels and supervises staff; Trains staff; and assists in the development of policies and procedures and understands the integration of all systems that affect department operations.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources on personnel issues including completing requisitions, interviewing, hiring, and following hospital policy on constructive counseling and progressive discipline.

  • Insure appropriate staff competencies are maintained (licensure, certification, orientation, mandatory training continuing education).

  • Plan and coordinate appropriate training for staff, including one-on-one training.

  • Develop policies, procedure and instructional materials relating to standards compliance monitoring, reporting and data integrity. Monitor overall effectiveness of these materials making changes as needed.

  • Monitor workflow for deficiency tracking, identity, chart correction and birth certifications. Perform these functions alongside staff regularly to ensure adequate staffing.

  • Manage provider suspension process; send letters, tracks completion of charts and report monthly on deficiency rates.

  • Prepare or assist in completing data gathering, statistical reports or records for internal or external agencies.

  • Ensure clinical information analysis is completed and reported to support record completion and medical center’s performance improvement program.

  • Oversee MPI maintenance, which includes investigating errors, ensuring cleanup is completed, and contacting appropriate personnel as required.

  • Identify system deficiencies, investigate difficulties and recommend corrective action or needed enhancements.

  • Maintain current working knowledge of HIM applications and how they are used in department operations.

  • Review vendor product releases and updates relating to department applications and evaluate advantages and advise the Director.
