Providence is calling a Scheduler Heart and Vascular - Clinical Services - Heart (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR
We are seeking a Scheduler Heart and Vascular - Clinical Services - Heart that will be accountable for scheduling and coordination of various complex Heart and Vascular service or procedures.
The Heart and Vascular Service Scheduler will use various systems and software to schedule services or Procedures. This position will obtain appropriate patient information which could include current/historical medical information, demographic, insurance information, and pre-authorizations. This position uses simple and complex medical terminology. This position will ensure superior customer service and service recovery, utilizing good judgment that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and Providence Health System staff.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Schedule procedures and/or appointments according to approved department guidelines including specialized blocks and group or individual physician blocked schedules
Obtain necessary info and advise appropriate departments for emergent add on cases as well as print off necessary paperwork
Verify credentialing status of physicians requesting reservations for their patients and appropriate identification of procedure for accurate resource map for proper utilization of resources
Verify patient's demographics
Obtain needed information from numerous sources including all medical floors, all referring physician offices
Maintain schedule based on available resources to ensure efficient work flow and patient experience
Disseminate pre-procedure/test instructions to patients to ensure preparation for visit
Courteously and professionally responding to multiple phone calls and requests that often occur simultaneously
Schedule requests from multiple sources
Collect and schedule accurate information regarding surgical procedure scheduled, physician or patient special requirements, patient demographics to avoid duplicate errors, and/or refers call to appropriate person/department
Collaborate with care team, charge / lead staff regarding scheduling, resource or staffing conflicts
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED
One (1) year of Hospital or medical office work experience
One (1) year of Customer service experience
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training: Business or college courses
Experience with Epic
Bilingual, able to speak, read, and write effectively in Spanish and English
