Providence Intake Specialist 1 - Spine Care Continuum in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling an Intake Specialist 1 - Spine Care Continuum (0.5 FTE, Days) to St. Vincent East Pavillion in Portland, OR

We are seeking an Intake Specialist 1 - Program Development Neuro Muscular Skeletal who will be a be the first point of contact to patients or visitors in person or by phone. This position plays a key role in maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction by providing exceptional customer service.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Contact patients to schedule appointments and explain program. Updates demographic and insurance information

  • Perform detailed phone screens (intakes) as delegated by RN. Reviews patient’s last visit, probe for information, entering data. Alert RN of possible “red flags” during patient intake process

  • Identify and resolves logistical issues (i.e. language services, referral denials, etc.).

  • Navigate multiple and complex data systems to research and/or record pertinent information in compliance with policies


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High School Diploma -OR- GED or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • One(1) year customer service experience in an office environment -OR- Successful completion of a Providence internship.

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Some college.

  • One (1) Medical office or healthcare experience.

  • Basic experience with electronic medical records and/or computerized billing systems.

  • Medical terminology experience.
