Providence Food Service Coordinator in Portland, Oregon
Description:
Providence is calling a Food Service Coordinator to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefited, night shift position supporting the Fountain Cafe. Hours are 6:00 p.m. - 2:30 a.m.
We are seeking a Food Service Coordinator who will provide a high level of customer service for patients, family members, volunteers, physicians and staff. The Service Excellence Standards of Behavior guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This position will act as a lead and run cafe operations.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of, and be compliant with, specified regulatory requirements, and food safety and sanitation regulations for food service in a health care environment. Proper sanitation procedures and practices must be following to assure the cleanliness and sanitation of ware-washing, service-ware, equipment in the work area.
Adhere to County/State Health department, hospital, and department standards, policies and procedures at all times.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Continuously develop and implement menu and service level changes to allow for changes in customers desires, building population, financial budgets, operating/facility constraints
Monitor daily customer counts and spending patterns and compares it with departmental and industry standards in order to assess pricing, marketing and merchandising performance
Monitor food quality and routinely monitors food temperatures assuring departmental standards are continuously met
Monitor service quality as it is performed and follows up with staff when deficiencies are noted
Monitor portion control and product merchandising continuously
Establish and promote teamwork for a successful staff through positive interaction, morale building, direction, and leadership
Select, evaluate and if necessary, disciplines staff to assure effective and satisfactory service is provided to customers
Maintain quality of service and sanitation levels with increasing workloads
Work with team in handling food in a manner which assures patients/customers are not exposed to food borne illness
Work with team in handling food products in a manner that optimizes correct handling, temperature and storage standards
Seek and responds as appropriate to customer’s feedback and suggestions
Provide assistance and direction to staff in completing daily work
Actively participate in the achievement of department goals and objectives
Order supplies as necessary; fills and delivers orders maintaining accurate records of same following pre-established par stock levels
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Valid County Health Department Food Handlers Certificate, -OR-
Serv Safe Certification at the time of hire
Serve Safe certification within one (1) year of hire. Note: PL540 does not require this certification
Three (3) years of experience in food service
Demonstrated event scheduling software experience
Knowledge of food service principles and basic supervisory principles
Understanding of retail profit and loss accounting practices
Ability to communicate and give/follow instructions and directions
Able to do math skills necessary to calculate food costs, daily cash balancing, etc.
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Experience with event scheduling software experience
Food service management experience
