Providence Executive Director, RCS Advanced Analytics in Portland, Oregon
The Executive Director, Revenue Cycle Advanced Analytics will implement and oversee our ambitious vision to build and lead a team to apply machine learning and AI techniques to solve complex revenue cycle business problems.
The extremely large datasets available within Providence is exciting in its potential opportunity for identifying the all important leading indicator metrics that drive the typical lagging indicators and at the same time, daunting given the complexity of the disparate data.
The right candidate will be energized by this challenge of knowing that a fraction of a percent improvement on a key metric will result in a significant positive downstream impact. And also by the prospect of leading a world-class team of data scientists and data engineers to formulate elegant analytics solutions to complex business problems.
The Executive Director must be visionary, innovative, creative and customer-obsessed to transform revenue cycle operations to become a more data driven organization and will develop an overall strategic roadmap of advanced analytics deliverables that support, align with, and help drive the overall revenue cycle strategy.

This executive must provide motivational leadership to a diverse revenue cycle team.
Build advanced analytics operating model: Develop operating model that clearly defines process to assess business problems and use-cases, including scoping, hypothesis testing via mathematical models, and communicate the approach and the resulting actionable results.
Build a portfolio of models: Construct a set of advanced analytics models (ML and AI based) that link performance drivers to final outcomes, i.e., correlation of leading to lagging key indicators.
Examples include initial denials, cash collections, aged AR, etc.
Short, medium, and long-term forecast models (1, 12 and 24-month increments)
Specific A/B analysis of measuring the effectiveness of changes to the business process (e.g., new call center script).
Challenge existing thinking: Leverage technical expertise to push thinking and communicate results to upper management.
Drive technical excellence: Solve key technical challenges by maximizing usage of available data, but also identify and push for additional dataset requirements. Identify and utilize external datasets (US Census, BLS, etc.)
Lead and develop the team: Recruit, lead, and develop an organization of highly skilled data scientists and data engineers.
Drive rigor and velocity: Build a team that yields high quality and actionable results to senior leadership.
Chart a new path: Derive actionable insights from complex, often messy data sources to improve net revenue and performance metrics; identify external advanced analytics toolsets in both healthcare and non-healthcare industry for best-in-class analytics and solutions.
Be a strategic thought partner: Collaborate with business leaders and technical teams to develop data driven solutions via rigorous analysis and opportunity sizing.

Required experience and education for this position include:
Deep industry experience: Have 12 years of industry experience in quantitative field; 5 years of leadership experience managing a team of 10 data scientists and product analysts across multiple locations
Passion for data: Demonstrate a genuine passion for being hands on with data and programming languages (R, SQL, Python); Thought leader of ML and AI models development and application
Growth mindset: Be intellectually curious and keep up with new tools, methodologies, and the industry to take on new challenges
Clear communication: Effectively describe complex analyses to highly disparate audiences with varying technical depth
Challenger mindset: Challenge the status quo in an effort to make continued improvements
