St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Senior Case Cart Technician - Sterile Processing in Orange, California
We are looking for a Senior Case Cart Technician for the Sterile Processing Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.
Location Orange, CA
Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly Hours
Shift: 8-hour, Nights
Under general supervision of the SPD Manager, Assistant Manager, and the Supervisors, the Case Cart Facilitator coordinates and facilitates the whole case cart process to ensure timely delivery of case carts from SPD to the O.R. The Case Cart Facilitator sees to it that all supply and instrument needs of the O.R. personnel are met and any deviations from norm are immediately relayed to the appropriate Manager and to the SPD Assistant Manager or Supervisor.
Reviews the surgery schedule and together with the Senior Instrument technician, ensures that all surgical procedures have an accurate case cart.
Keeps track of case flow during the day, monitors instrument needs, and notifies SPD personnel in advance of any possible additional/emergent instrumentation needs.
Plans and coordinates all instrument turnarounds. Communicates to the surgical team all essential instrumentation information that may affect or delay surgery start times.
Works closely with cluster managers to ensure that preference cards remain accurate.
Returns and restocks all unused sterile supplies and instruments to their appropriate locations.
Ensures that the single instrument peel pouch area is well stocked and properly maintained.
Performs, without supervision, all of the functions of the instrument Specialty Technician, and serves as a resource on any of these functions, when needed.
Dispenses sterile supplies to the appropriate locations.
Prepares instruments for decontamination.
Sterilizes instruments and supplies according to hospital policy. Records testing and loads content. Communicates issues related to testing results.
Reports broken equipment, instruments, and patient safety issues to management team immediately.
Cleans, assembles, and wraps surgery instrument trays, specialty trays, and procedural trays.
Communicates clearly and professionally with all members of the health care team and other personal in both providing and obtaining information.
Minimum Position Requirements:
Education: H.S. Diploma or GED
Experience: 3 years experience in surgical instrument processing, to include sterilization, decontamination, and assembly.
Licenses/Certifications: Sterile Processing Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Education: Coursework/Training - 2 years of college.
Recent experience in case cart management
