St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Security Officer - Security in Orange, California

Advance your career working at a Magnet recognized hospital known for clinical quality and patient safety. Our team is looking for a Security Officer to join our Security team at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange. This is a full time, 8-hour position on the day shift for a total of 80 biweekly hours.

Job Summary:

Directly responsible for maintaining a proficient operation while in the Communication Center, logging and passing on all vital information; dispatching Officers as needed; monitoring the CCTV monitors; responding to alarm monitoring systems, accessing and securing alarms when properly notified and documenting. Tours the facilities and grounds to ensure the safety of personnel and patients. Investigate losses, vandalism, assaults, improper conduct, etc. Coordinate with law enforcement agencies, parking and traffic control, report unusual conditions.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs duties as outlined in Security Officer (625BE) job description.

  • Coordinates activities within communication centers, which would include answering all incoming calls, monitoring, troubleshooting and processing alarms when necessary.

  • Provides clear, concise, accurate, complete and legible documentation of all shift dispatch activities (Radio/telephone log, key logs, vehicle registration, Rideshare registration, name badges, etc.).

  • Responds to critical incident situations appropriately, according to department protocol which may include Code 77, Code Red, Code Yellow, and Code Pink alarms by taking action, as outlined in the Communication Manual, as assigned.

  • Responsible for the tracking of all equipment, radios, keys, paperwork, etc. Ensures all items are present and accounted for at the beginning and end of each shift. If anything is missing, the shift supervisor will be notified immediately.

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • One (1) year of Security or dispatch experience.

License / Certifications:

  • Valid California Drivers license.

  • California BSIS Guard Card.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Penal Code 832 Training.

Experience:

  • Dispatcher experience.

  • Hospital Security Officer experience.

License / Certifications:

  • IAHSS Certification in Healthcare Security or equivalent
