St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health RN II - Medical ICU in Orange, California

Our team is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical ICU at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange. This is a full time, 12-hour night shift with a total of 72 biweekly hours.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Independently use the nursing process to care for a group of patients safely, therapeutically, and efficiently.

  • Use information from a variety of sources, including Jean Watson's Theory of Human Science and Caring to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes, and evaluate patient’s plan of care.

  • Oversee the duties and competencies of the healthcare team; these include the performance of nursing assistant duties, clerical, food service, and environmental services duties as applicable.

  • Practice in accordance with all regulatory, professional, legal, and hospital policies.

  • Consistently demonstrate behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the Hospital’s mission statement.

Qualifications and Skills needed for this role:

Required qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of acute critical care (clinical) RN experience.

  • Must hold a current California Registered Nursing License.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers.

  • Current NIH Stroke Certification.

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with patients, patients' families, and ancillary departments.

  • Adequate math skills and basic computer data entry skills.

  • Ability to coordinate and delegate team activities.

  • Flexibility to adapt to new and changing situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).

  • Three (3) years of RN critical care (MICU, CVICU, SICU, Neuro ICU or any other intensive care units) experience.

  • Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).
