St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health MRI Technologist - Radiology MRI Inpatient in Orange, California

We are looking for a MRI Technologist for the Radiology-MRI Inpatient Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.

Location: Orange, CA

Work Schedule: On Call / Per Diem

Shift: 12-hour, Days (Variable)

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the department Lead, Radiology Supervisor or Radiology Manager, the MRI Technologist will accurately perform high quality MRI and diagnostic procedures. Fulfill all duties required by the department, quality assurance, following State and JCAHO standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all pediatric and adult procedures in accordance with department guidelines including the introduction of IV's for administration of contrast material.

  • Obtains appropriate screening and history documentation relevant to the procedure being performed using initials for sign off.

  • Demonstrates competency in the use of the pressure injector.

  • Verifies all procedures and assures all paperwork is complete and accurate prior to dictation; delivers all processed procedures to the imaging Radiologists for dictation in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of MRI Safety procedures.

  • Coordinates daily work activities through physician and nursing input. Recognizes scheduling conflicts and intervenes when appropriate.

  • Demonstrates knowledge in the use of PACS (Synapse) and HIS / RIS applications.

  • Ensures that all rooms and equipment are tidy, clean and stocked with supplies.

  • Performs QC on the scanner, maintain awareness of equipment status, troubleshoot malfunctions and address problems with supervisor and service personnel.

  • Communicates with physician offices, patients, radiologist and fellow co-workers in a professional manner.

Skills:

  • Computer skills (Word and Meditech).

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems without waiting for direction and accepts responsibility.

  • Ability to function independently and perform more than one task at any given time.

  • Ability to prioritize workflow.

  • Ability to function in an environment that includes varying unpredictable or crisis circumstances while exercising appropriate interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs to assure that the procedure performance outcome is consistent with the MRI department’s policies and procedures.

  • Preferred: Knowledge base with the ability to operate Siemens equipment.

  • Preferred: Thorough knowledge of physiology and cross-sectional anatomy.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

  • Coursework/Training - Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist school or program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • CRT.

  • ARRT.

  • Sub-specialty certification in MRI.

  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years experience as an MRI technologist in a hospital setting or Imaging center with adult and pediatric performance.
