St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health CT Technologist - Outpatient Radiology in Orange, California

Our team is looking for a CT Technologist to join our Outpatient CT Radiology department at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange. This is an on-call / per diem position providing support for variable shifts.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform all pediatric and adult procedures in accordance with department guidelines including the introduction of IV's for administration of contrast material.

  • Assure accurate scan performance by procedure verification with diagnosis and prescription using initials for sign off.

  • Demonstrate competency in the use of the pressure injector.

  • Verify all procedures and assure all paperwork is complete and accurate prior to dictation; deliver all processed procedures to the Imaging Radiologists for dictation in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of radiation dose reduction techniques.

  • Coordinate daily work activities through physician and nursing input. Recognize scheduling conflicts and intervene when appropriate.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the use of HIS / RIS applications.

  • Ensure that all rooms and equipment are tidy, clean and stocked with supplies.

  • Perform QC on the scanner, maintain awareness of equipment status, troubleshoot malfunctions and address problems with supervisor and service personnel.

  • Participate in department meetings, quality control and departmental and hospital PI initiatives.

  • Fulfill all duties required by the department quality assurance, Federal, State and JCAHO Standards.

Qualifications and Skills needed for this role:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist school or program.

  • CRT and ARRT certifications.

  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

  • Specialty certification in CT from ARRT.

  • Venipuncture certification.

  • Computer skills (WordPerfect, Word, Meditech and GroupWise).

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems without waiting for direction and accepts responsibility.

  • Ability to function independently and perform more than one task at any given time.

  • Ability to function in an environment that includes varying unpredictable or crisis circumstances while exercising appropriate interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to prioritizes workflow.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or outpatient imaging center performing pediatric and adult CT scans.

  • Broad knowledge base, with the ability to operate Siemens equipment.
