Providence Unit Secretary - Intensive Care Cardiovascular in Olympia, Washington


Providence is calling a Unit Secretary (0.9 FTE, Day Shift) to the Intensive Care Cardiovascular at Providence St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

The unit secretary performs general clerical, receptionist, and secretarial duties in support of the patient care area.

In this position you will:

  • Greets physicians, families and patients presenting to the nurses station and directs questions, comments or concerns to the appropriate individual

  • Responds to phone calls and intercom from physicians, families, patients and nurses and directs request to appropriate individuals

  • Performs clerical duties

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the EHR to manage patient registration/admit/transfer/discharge.

  • Schedule patient appointments and tests. Obtains insurance information as applicable. Demonstrate proficiency in the basic use of Microsoft Office products.

  • Maintain patient and department records

  • Communicate with courtesy and clarity, ensuring dignity and mutual respect in all verbal and non-verbal communication.

  • Follow policies and procedures designed to protect the privacy of patients and protected health information.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or GED

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year Clerical experience in the medical field.
