The Admitting Representative is responsible for securing appropriate patient account reimbursement by obtaining complex demographic, insurance and medical informa

In this position you will:

o Creating a consistent and exceptional patient experience throughout the patient interview process.

o Provides superior customer service to all customers accurately and timely in a positive manner. Demonstrates ability to multitask and prioritize with frequent interruptions. Provides accurate patient information. Demonstrates exceptional problem solving skills. Courteously answers department telephone identifies facility and department.

o Effectively utilizes all information tools and resources maintained by the department.

o Assess patient ability to complete the admission process prior to receiving services or going to their hospital rooms. In some instances, may require bedside registration.

o Alert clinical staff if patients need immediate attention.

o Ensure patients are registered in a timely manner, ensuring accounts are complete, compliant, and billable and do not require rework or intervention.

o Provides armbands in a timely manner and verifies all information on the armband with patient to ensure accuracy.

o Request, collect and document co-pays from patients effectively and efficiently within EMTALA guidelines where applies.

o Escort and/or direct patient appropriately once registration completed.

o Secure patient's valuables in accordance with PH&S procedures, providing appropriate validation documentation and storing valuables in safe as needed. Return valuables to patients at discharge and complete valuables log.

o Ensure order entry tasks are completed timely and accurately.

o Process in-house patient work queues timely and accurately.

o Ensure all relevant documentation is scanned timely and accurately.

o For worker comp/labor and industries patients, ensure forms are filled in promptly and accurately and follow through with patients for signature and completion.

o Present ABN's and ensure signatures are obtained.

o Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely.

o Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information.

o Closely adhere to set schedules and handle time standards.

o Promote PH&S as a premier service organization by treating customers with compassion and respect.

o Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success.

o Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA.

o Receives packages and special deliveries, takes information needed to notify recipient. Notifies the recipient to pick package up.

o Work with Environmental Services to keep areas clean/straightened.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications this position include:

Education:

License/Certification:

o National Certification of CHAA is preferred.

Experience:

1 year Experience in customer service or healthcare registration.

A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Education:

H.S. Diploma or GED

Coursework/Training Some college level coursework, particularly Medical Terminology or Medical Assistance.

License/Certification:

o National Certification of CHAA is preferred.

Experience:

Admitting Representative and third party payor experience.
