St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Staffing Coordinator in Napa, California

We are looking for a Staffing Coordinator - NUHW (National Union of Healthcare Workers) with the Nursing Administration Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Location: Napa, CA

Schedule: Part Time - 48 biweekly hours

Shift: 8-hour Days

Job Summary:

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing the daily staffing schedule for various nursing departments. In addition this person maintains the scheduling system in accordance with identified needs and the Medical Center's mission and values. Performs duties under minimum supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for planning daily staffing and scheduling based on the acuity system and appropriate skill mix. Assigns personnel economically meeting Nurse Manager or lead RN's satisfaction.

  • Ability to fluctuate staffing and to ensure fairness between all departments based on identified staffing needs. Cancels staff appropriately.

  • Maintains and reviews master schedules using the computer based scheduling system. Generates new schedules for staff when new employees added or status changes assuring adequate department coverage. Accurate schedules are transcribed and distributed to each manager in a timely manner.

  • Makes recommendations to the Staffing Office Manager regarding staff deficiencies and need for agency contract staff assistance.

  • Produces reports as required by management and others, regarding staffing statistics and information such as attendance reports.

  • Daily verbal contact with staff and managers in order to meet scheduling and staffing needs. Uses excellent communication skills in dealing with difficult situations.

  • Maintains agency contract staff files assuring regulatory and policy requirements are met.

  • Knowledgeable regarding Staffing policies and able to impart this information to staff as requested.

  • Demonstrates consistent accuracy and detailed follow through in all tasks.

  • Flexibility and ability to accept the stress and demands of the position.

  • Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all medical center personnel.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team, organize workload, prioritize and use good judgment.

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn scheduling software program.

Position Requirements:

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED

Experience: 6 months office/clerical experience

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree

Experience:

Experience with hospital staffing.

Experience in a service-oriented position.
