St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Patient Transporter - Radiology Administration in Napa, California

We are looking for a Patient Transporter - National Union of Health Workers with the Radiology Administration at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Location: Napa, CA

Work Schedule: On call/Per diem

Shift: 8 hour, Days (Variable)

Job Summary:

The transporter/porter is an individual that assists with the transportation of patients, equipment and other items between various departments within the Medical Center. Performs duties under moderate supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies patient prior to transportation according to policy. Verifies order in chart.

  • Patients are handled with a high degree of professional ethics, care, tact, courtesy and safety. Provides for patient comfort, privacy and safety while transporting. Adheres to Medical Center customer service standards.

  • Reports any changes in patient's condition that occur during transportation.

  • Demonstrates clear effective communication with staff, patient and family members prior to and during transportation. Verifies ticket to ride is complete.

  • Adheres to Medical Center isolation and patient safety policies.

  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and notifies supervisor when service is necessary. Keeps track of all department transportation equipment.

  • Maintains work area – cleans equipment and stocks linen, supplies and oxygen tanks.

  • Works corroboratively with other healthcare providers and demonstrates an attitude of professionalism.

Skills :

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Ability to communicate professionally ­ excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to set priorities

  • Demonstrates principles of asepsis and appropriate infection control measures per Medical Center policy, including proper use of personal protective equipment

  • Teamwork and flexibility skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to problem solve independently

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent

Licenses / Certifications: Current Healthcare Provider BLS

Preferred Position Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with transportation of patients

  • Previous experience in a nursing or radiology department or a related field
