We are looking for an Interventional Radiology (IR) Cath Lab Technologist for the Cardiac Cath Lab Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Location: Napa, CA

Work Schedule: On call/Per diem

Shift: 10 hour, Days

Job Summary:

The IR Special Procedures Technologist, under the direction of the operating physician, Lead Technologist, and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, performs all the professional duties involved in the performance of vascular and interventional procedures and in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis in Interventional Radiology. Acts in compliance with federal, state, and Joint Commission standards. Produces and evaluates images and related data to be used by physicians to render medical diagnosis. Performs related clerical tasks and assumes responsibility for coordinating exams performed.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with an attitude of professionalism and collaboration, to provide assistance to the Interventional Radiologists and other physicians and staff in the implementation and performance of Vascular Angiographic and Interventional procedures.

  • Responsible for the proper and efficient operation of all diagnostic equipment. Arranges for equipment service as necessary. Performs regular quality assurance tests and maintains records.

  • Analyzes patient to set technical factors and adjust specialized radiographic equipment to apply ionizing radiation for the production of prescribed digital images and fluoroscopy. Practices radiation safety techniques. Maintains film badges for the Interventional Lab staff and physicians. Adheres to Medical Center safety policy.

  • Reviews physician orders and patient records to optimize patient care and appropriately schedule patient procedures. Records all pertinent patient information and performs all clerical tasks associated with exam.

  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate a situation from many perspectives, consider various alternatives and act in a manner consistent with Medical Center and departmental policies. Anticipates patient and physician procedural needs. Evaluates patients progress toward attaining expected outcomes in a systematic, ongoing and criterion-based manner.

  • Performs, preps, scrubs and circulates during vascular and interventional procedures.

  • Responsible for ordering equipment, devices (stents, wires, balloons) and other supplies.

  • Provide appropriate education for patient, families, and other healthcare providers.

  • Has access to and administers and/or handles medications according to this position’s license or certification standards and Medical Center policy.

Skills :

  • Thorough knowledge of all vascular and interventional procedures.

  • Knowledge of equipment and devices (stents, wire, balloons).

  • Knowledge of procedural coding and charging.

  • Demonstrates creativity, integrity, initiative and critical thinking skills in an environment that is varying, unpredictable and includes crisis situations.

  • Effective skills in interpersonal relationships, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Operates the necessary components of the angiographic and patient monitoring equipment.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the function and operation of all vascular and interventional tools and devices.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education : Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.

Experience : 1 year of experience in a radiology field.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current California State license to practice Radiologic Technology (CRT).

  • Current California State license to practice Fluoroscopy (CRT-F).

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology-ARRT(R).

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification.

  • IV Therapy Certification.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

License/Certification: Advanced certification in ARRT-Interventional Radiology or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology.
