Providence Emergency Department Technician in Missoula, Montana
Providence is calling an Emergency Department Technician (Emergency Department, Night Shift, 0.6 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:
Assist in orienting families. Provides information to families in a positive and courteous manner.
Assist MD/RN with procedures: wound prep/closure/dressings; splinting; epistaxis; other procedures as needed. Demonstrate knowledge and proper use of equipment. Ensure needed equipment is available for procedure (ie oxygen/airway/suction equipment, procedure trays, patient monitoring equipment, etc.).
Assist safety patient’s comfort and mobility and transfer needs.
Assist the RN in the evaluation of diverse patient population in the ED which may include: vital signs and prepare patient for exam.
Assist with any treatment or equipment designated by the RN.
Assist with the application and discontinuation of cooling/warming devices; cardiac, pulse oximetry and blood pressure monitors.
Assist with transport of patients to ancillary services/ in patient rooms. Ensures patient/staff safety by using proper techniques and equipment. Monitor department for transport needs and perform as needed.
Successful completion of an orientation program or equivalent experience
Montana Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Licensure or National Certification or Montana Nursing Assistant Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire
High school diploma or general education equivalent GED
Three (3) years pre-hospital or hospital experience highly
