Providence Certified Nursing Assistant in Missoula, Montana

Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (Surgical Pediatrics, Days, 0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week) to Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:

  • Apply patient identification and allergy bands

  • Complete accurate intake and output

  • Complete and document personal inventory on newly admitted patient and places their belonging in the locked cupboard

  • Contribute to the assessment of the patient by collecting information for analysis by an RN

  • Give complete and accurate report to licensed staff upon completion of tasks and duties

  • Obtain and record height and weight

  • Orient patient and family to call lights and unit routines. Answer patient calls promptly

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant

The Nurse Assistant performs assigned tasks and activities according to skill level and patient needs as assessed by the RN. The Nurse Assistant supports nursing personnel in providing nursing care to patients and assists with providing a safe, quiet, clean, organized environment for nursing care delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The caregiver must be sufficiently fluent in the English language to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. The degree of fluency required will vary depending upon the nature of the position.

For direct patient care roles: Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served.

In this position you will:

o Obtains and records height and weight.

o Orients patient and family to call lights and unit routines. Answers patient calls promptly.

o Performs accurate placement of telemetry patches and addresses telemetry signal issues promptly

o Performs restorative rehabilitative procedures as instructed.

o Prepares patient for meals, serves snacks and assists with feeding.

o Provides for comfort, hygiene and safety needs of patients.

o Utilizes a collaborative interdisciplinary process to provide support to all members of the Patient Focus Care Team to reinforce basic patient/family education.

o Utilizes positioning aids and turning schedules to protect pressure points and maintains normal anatomical alignment.

o Documents all clinical information supporting assigned tasks accurately and completely in a timely manner.

o Reports panic values appropriately to RN.

o Provides clear, concise pertinent patient reports/information.

License/Certification:

o Effective 4/1/2018 all newly hired CNA's must have a current CNA certification in Montana required. Current AHA-BLS is required. Existing caregivers in the HCA role have until 8/1/2018 to obtain their CNA certification.

o Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) - (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.

Experience:

Successful completion of an orientation program or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Education:

H.S. Diploma or GED

License/Certification:

o Effective 4/1/2018 all newly hired CNA's must have a current CNA certification in Montana required. Current AHA-BLS is required. Existing caregivers in the HCA role have until 8/1/2018 to obtain their CNA certification.

o Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) - (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.
