We are looking for a Senior Certified Surgical Tech with Surgical Services - MV Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Schedule: Full-time

Shift: Day

Job Summary:

Within the identified roles of practitioner, leader, and teacher, the Sr. Certified Surgical Technician possesses the technical expertise to practice at the Surgical Technician levels, and, additionally, demonstrates advance theory and practice in the surgical specialties, including General Surgery, Gynecology, Genitourinary, ENT, Orthopedics, Plastic/Reconstructive, Thoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, and Pediatrics. This Surgical Technician position assumes additional responsibility in promoting and improving the quality of intra-operative patient care, participating in the development of technical practice standards and teaching/precepting orientees, students, and colleagues. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the hospital’s mission statement.


  • Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, which promote and enhance leadership with operating room staff, surgeons, and ancillary departments.

  • Current technical skills of unit specific and age specific type patients.

  • Analytical skills necessary to develop, recommend, and implement technical standards, policies and procedures that improve delivery of care.

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when performing job functions, and dealing with other personnel and the medical staff often under intense situations.

  • Knowledge of the theory and current trends in surgical technology.

  • Must be proficient in required competencies as listed on the unit competency inventory (upon completion of orientation.)

Position Requirements:

Education :

  • High school graduate or GED and certificate of completion of formalized surgical technologist training program.

  • Training on preceptor course upon hire or obtained within 6 months.

Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Surgical Technician role.

License and Certification:

  • Healthcare provider level BLS Certification upon hire.

  • Hires after 7/1/2017 require CST, Certified Surgical Technologist within six (6) months of hire

Preferred Position Requirements:

Education: AA degree or equivalent

Experience: Experience in preceptor and educator role

License and Certification: Active membership in specialty organization. BLS instructor
