St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Radiology Supervisor - Radiology in Mission Viejo, California

We are looking for a Radiology Supervisor for the Radiology - MV Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Evenings

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, oversees department personnel and coordinates workflow per assigned shift to ensure radiology functions efficiently to provide quality patient care. Performs variety of radiologic procedures, providing assessment and care for infants, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Essential Functions:

  • Trains and evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, appropriately disciplines and recommends discharge of subordinate personnel.

  • Resolves problems independently and effectively to ensure optimal patient care obtaining proper end results.

  • Completes required paperwork, computer processing and documentation as needed to ensure accurate efficient and timely results. Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Performs independent and routine assignments as requested or required to include proper orientation of technologists.

  • Performs quality and timely radiologic procedures demonstrating thorough knowledge of radiographic equipment to support accurate medical diagnoses. Demonstrates the ability to perform psychosocial and developmental age-related needs of the specific population served. Also demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies as indicated on the competency inventory. Resolves problems independently and effectively to ensure optimal patient care obtaining proper end results.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage people diplomatically, problem solve independently and resolve conflicts effectively.

  • Effective instructional skills to demonstrate to personnel proper procedures and techniques.

  • Computer data entry skills to enter patient, procedure, and billing information.

  • Basic understanding of physics, math, and electronics.

  • Excellent knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology for multi-disciplinary documentation/charting.

  • Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to trouble shoots minor equipment problems.

  • Radiation safety skills and protective measures and patient safety measures/precautions.

  • Knowledge of contrast materials and contrast reaction interventions.

  • Ability to perform necessary procedures and knowledge of age specific protocols.

  • Ability to handle intense situations.

  • Proficient in required competencies upon completion of orientation, as listed on the unit specific competency inventory.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience: 5 years experience as staff technologist.


  • CRT.

  • ARRT (R) for hires after 2/1/2019.

  • Fluoroscopy permit within 6 months of hire date at hospital, or proof of current enrollment in fluoroscopy class.

  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Level BLS.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management or 10 years as a staff technologist.

Experience: Supervisory experience.
