St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Major Gifts Officer - Foundation in Mission Viejo, California

We are looking for a Major Gifts Officer for the Foundation at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly hours

Shift: 8 hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Principal and Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for managing a prospect portfolio and securing private financial support in the form of major gifts for the Foundation. Additional responsibilities include engaging physicians, volunteers, grateful patients and key community stakeholders as referral sources and cultivation/solicitation partners.

Essential Functions:

  • Secure financial support by managing a portfolio of major gift prospects through the process of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

  • Identify and establish relationships with key stakeholders (physicians, grateful patients, volunteers and hospital administrators) in an effort to help identify and engage new prospects, develop strategy and steward existing donors.

  • Actively participate in Major Gift Officer Meetings, collaborate with colleagues on best practices, share successes, challenges and found solutions, and contribute to establishing and achieving team goals.

  • Document required prospect interaction in donor database.

  • Collaborate with Shared Services and Foundation staff to appropriately and meaningfully steward and recognize Major Donors.

  • Develop strategic and disciplined qualification plans to promote growth of the major donor pool.

  • Represent Foundation in a positive and professional manner at internal and external meetings, events, and activities.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education : Bachelor's Degree

Experience : Five (5) years of Progressive and proven experience developing relationships with high-capacity prospects and securing major gifts.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education : Master's Degree or Fundraising certification (CFRE, FAHP, CSPG or equivalent)
