We are seeking a Clinical Specialty Nurse (RN) in Urgent Care who will provide professional patient care for all patients following established standards and practices. Serves as a role model for Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants and LVNs by providing leadership which fosters positive attitudes and change, as well as supports management policies and procedures.

In this position you will:
Perform job functions timely and efficiently utilizing knowledge of advanced nursing principles
Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected
Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline
Perform patient care skills -- vitals, BP, history taking, IM/Sub Q injections, EKG, treadmill, catheterization, PTSs, Accu check, sterile technique procedure set-ups, assists with minor surgeries, pulse oxycemetry, phlebotomy, autoclaving, controlled substance counts and PFTs (Pulmonary Function Test)
Mix and administer IV medications, as written by physician and within the scope of practice
Perform advanced clinical procedures: porta-caths, bladder catheterizations and chemotherapy administration
Administer routine immunizations, therapeutic injections and skin tests
Perform blood pressure checks. Informs practitioner of unusual changes
Assist with emergencies and minor surgeries
Provide accurate, complete, legible and timely documentation of all nursing procedures in the medical record
Demonstrate effective nursing judgment and a thorough knowledge of nursing procedures and practices
Communicate clinically significant information to the physician, including but not limited to, abnormal test results, patient concerns and changes in the patient’s condition
Support the waived and moderately complex clinical lab testing needs of the Urgent Care. This includes performing testing considered moderately complex on patient samples and the associated quality control materials in accordance with the laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Additionally, provides onsite oversight for control and instrument. maintenance documentation and complete the training and ongoing competency requirements as defined by the Laboratory Medical Director
Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal direction adjusting to changes in workload and acuity
Follow correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous infectious waste
Perform daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance
Order and maintain current inventories of medication and supplies
Check for outdated medication on a monthly basis.
Comply with all application infection control and safety procedures
Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline
May be asked to serve as a preceptor to others. This will include, but not be limited to:
Complete of an 8-hour preceptor class
Orient and train new personnel or assist in re-orienting / re-training existing personnel
Review appropriate checklist and monitor completion of specific areas
Help the orientee seek learning opportunities with a review of pertinent Policy and Procedure, observation skills, and checklist completion
Provide feedback to supervisor on areas completed and areas needing additional training
Demonstrate awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care
Use appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state laws
Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
Obtain appropriate authorizations and consents for treatment
Provide open and timely communication with patients, and their families
Provide sufficient information to allow patients and their significant others to participate in the patient’s care
Provide educational resources to the patient/family as appropriate
Demonstrate commitment to education and sharing of knowledge
Assist in the orientation of new personnel to the office
Obtain ongoing education consistent with level and area of practice
Maintain current American Hearth Association BLS for Health Care Providers and other appropriate licensure/certifications
Participate regularly in Quality Improvement audits and activities
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing program
Current California RN license
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers from the American Heart Association
1 year Patient assessment experience in the acute care setting, emergency medicine, or urgent care environment
Knowledge of UR/QA requirements, surgery scheduling knowledge and patient education skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills essential.
Ability to multi-task and deliver patient care in a fast-paced environment
Preferred qualifications for this position include
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
