St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Radiation Therapist, JACC - Full time in Lubbock, Texas

Covenant Health is seeking a full time Radiation Therapist with the JACC at Covenant Medical Center.

Job Summary:

Coordinates, prepares and administers radiation therapy treatments and simulation procedures to infants, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Applies appropriate radiation safety, practices, performs quality assurance procedures, and clear and concise documentation. Assumes complete responsibility and accountability with little supervision required. Collaborates with others and seeks direction from supervisor or others as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides and maintains clinical competency in Radiation Oncology, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of radiation physics, radiology, radiation protection, anatomy, positioning, and dosimetry.

  • Performs safe and efficient operation of the equipment including the linear accelerators, simulator, computer, treatment devices, quality assurance tools, and other equipment.

  • Reviews the patient chart, treatment plan, prescription, dosimetry, and set up instructions prior to initiation of treatment procedures.

  • Patients are positioned accurately and the treatment is delivered according to the prescribed treatment plan.

  • Performs clear and concise documentation. Provides excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Provides and maintains quality patient care and relations, collaborating with the health care team to provide assistance and care to the patient in a positive, efficient, and proactive manner.

  • Provides ability to understand and follow directions, taking the initiative to analyze and solve problems. Seeks direction from supervisor, physics, physicians and others as needed.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must be certified by the Texas Department of Health as a certified medical radiologic technologist - TDH.

  • Must be certified by the American Board of Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy (ARRT).

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience : 1 year experience in a fast paced Radiation Oncology department
