St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Patient Transporter - Full time - Days in Lubbock, Texas

Covenant Health is seeking a full time, day shift Patient Transporter for the Central Transport Department at Covenant Medical Center.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the safe transport of patients, specimens, supplies, medications, equipment and other miscellaneous items. Direct supervision by Transportation Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  • Transports patients, and miscellaneous items as directed by the dispatcher, supervisor, or manager while maintaining a 90% productivity rating.

  • Follows all infection control polices and procedures as it relates to patients, equipment, supplies and other miscellaneous items to include cleaning equipment after each patient use.

  • Lift, transfer, and reposition patients as assigned, utilizing proper equipment and safe techniques.

  • Responsible for the safe operation of all equipment used in the performance of duties. Required to report any equipment malfunctions or disrepair immediately.

  • Demonstrates a positive safety culture as it relates to the performance of all duties.

  • Ensures patient comfort while assisting in all aspects of patients’ transport.

  • Assists in maintaining a clean environment for patients.

  • Maintains friendly, efficient service attitude towards patients, customers, clients and co-workers. Is aware of the patient’s current medical, physical, and mental condition by verifying the status with the nursing staff as it relates to the required care assignment.

  • Serve as back up courier or dispatcher as needed.

Minimum Position Qualifications:


  • Customer service experience, preferably in a health care setting.

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
