St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Nurse Manager- Labor and Delivery / Antepartum in Lubbock, Texas

Covenant Health is seeking a Full-time Manager, Nursing for Nursing Administration LRMC Department at Covenant Health System.

Job Summary:

Plans, supervises, and evaluates the delivery of nursing care, the performance of assigned staff, and unit management 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, for designated clinical area(s). Works closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure continuity of care across the continuum. Minimal supervision required.

Essential Function:

  • Responsible for all identified outcome measures as denoted on Performance Assessment.

  • Demonstrates knowledge, judgment and organizational abilities to meet the needs of patients served.

  • Sets expectations, develops plans, and manages the process to assess, improve, and maintain the quality of the organization's governance, management, clinical, and support activities.

  • Assumes responsibility for determining staff competency through on-going evaluation of performance.

  • Maintains a responsible attitude toward appropriate and efficient management within the department.

  • Assures that patient care services are appropriately integrated throughout the organization.

  • Facilitates staff attendance at meetings.

  • Supports and monitors an appropriate and efficient cost containment program.

  • Maintains a committed and cooperative attitude with all departments in the organization.

  • Meets all expectations of RN Staff position description.

  • Responsible for providing facilitation, information-sharing, and mentorship of unit council and facilitates staff participation in Shared Governance activities of the organization.

Minimum Position Qualification:

Education:

  • Meet the criteria to sit for the NCLEX examination and become licensed in the State of Texas.

  • Coursework/Training, JACC Medical Oncology and Physicians Offices:

  • Maintains radiation safety training annually.

  • Maintains conscious sedation education annually.

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing, for:

  • Hospital/Clinic.

  • Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiac Services Education and Research.

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

  • Pediatric Emergency Department.

  • Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit.

  • JACC, Within 2 years of employment.

Experience:

  • 3 years Professional nursing experience.

  • 2 years Clinical experience in specific clinical area.

License and Certificate:

  • Current license to practice professional nursing from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or an approved compact state as a Registered Nurse.

  • BLS (AHA) certification upon hire

  • ACLS within 1 year (exception: 607000 - NICU and Dept 7217000936-A04 do not require ACLS; see Dept Spec section).

  • Specialty certification (RCIS) required.

Preferred Position Qualification:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing, for: Staffing Operations Nurse Manager

  • Master's Degree Nursing, for:

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

  • Pediatric Emergency Department.

  • Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit.

  • Master's Degree For Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiac Services Education and Research.

Experience:

  • 3 years Professional nursing experience.

  • 2 years Clinical experience in specific clinical area.

License and Certification:

  • PALS preferred.

  • Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiac Services Education and Research:

• Specialty certification (RCIS) required.
