Covenant Health is seeking a full time, evening shift EKG Technician with the EKG Department at Covenant Medical Center.

Job Summary:

Performs clear, diagnostic 12-Lead EKG's and rhythm strips to assist the physician in diagnosing and treating patients. Limited supervision required.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies self and verifies patient identification, ensures safety and privacy during procedure.

  • Performs 12-lead EKG's and rhythm strips. Ensures proper electrode and lead placement on patient of all age groups.

  • Performs all computer functions correctly by entering patient's logistical data into the EKG records management system correctly.

  • Run two copies of the EKG, leaving one on the unit and the second in the interpreting cardiologist's box.

  • Removes electrodes from the patient following the procedure and returns room to its original state.

  • Identifies situations requiring immediate notification of a nurse.

  • Cleans and stocks EKG carts. Ensures carts are stocked with supplies at the end of each shift. Inventories supplies and keeps at an optimal level.

  • Carries pager at all times while on duty and responds to pages and Code Blues promptly. Utilizes communication system to answer and relay messages.

Minimum Position Qualifications:


  • Coursework/Training - Training in Arrhythmia Recognition.

  • Coursework/Training - Training in 12-Lead EKG Interpretation. Offered to employee through Covenant Training and Development Department or Education and Research department with Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiac Services.


  • BLS certification with 30 days of employment.
