St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health TIP, RN Resident (New Graduate RNs) - Transition Into Practice Residency Program - Multiple Locations/Specialties - April 2020 Cohort in Irvine, California

Providence St. Joseph Health is hiring RN Residents (new graduate RNs) to our Southern California Clinical Academy Transition into Practice (TIP) Residency program at four of our Southern California Providence St. Joseph Health Hospitals including: St. Joseph of Orange, St. Jude, St. Mary and Mission Hospital.

This is the only Residency application for all locations. This TIP cohort hire date is mid-April

We are seeking Registered Nurses who are:

  • New graduate RNs seeking a professional Residency transition program

Position Summary:

The Clinical Academy Transition into Practice Program (TIP) offered by Providence St. Joseph Health in the Southern California Region is committed to developing our caregivers as a strategic priority to ensure we provide the highest quality care to those we serve. This Registered Nurse professional development program is designed to support the newly licensed (new graduate Resident) progression from education into practice in a first professional nursing role. Newly graduated RNs (Residents) are within 18 months of graduation and typically have fewer than 12 months of experience.

This Clinical Academy Transition into Practice Program (TIP) is offered throughout four of our California hospitals, with the following considerations and in various clinical areas:

  • Availability Varies : Availability of clinical areas varies at each medical center.

  • Shift Options : There are often more night shift opportunities than day shift assignments.

  • Travel Between Hospitals : As a regional program, some training will take place at locations other than the hospital you were hired to work for. Flexibility is required to travel to various locations for training purposes.

  • Specialties MAY Include:

  • Case Management

  • Cath Lab

  • Critical Care

  • Emergency Department

  • Float Pool

  • GI Lab/Endoscopy

  • Labor & Delivery

  • Medical Surgical/Telemetry

  • Neonatal ICU

  • Oncology

  • Operating Room

  • Pediatrics

  • Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Recovery Room)

  • Post-Partum

  • Progressive Care (Step-down)

  • Sub-Acute Care

  • Transitional Care Unit

· In this position you will:

  • Work with a preceptor and assume increasing responsibility during the program

  • Demonstrate competencies in populations served at completion of program

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient’s care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes

  • Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs of those we serve

  • Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students

  • Align practice with safety and quality, be accountable for safety, identify and correct problems

  • Engage in ongoing professional development; promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates and disseminates research and evidence-based practice.

  • Lead and coordinate teams, delegate, coordinate care and collaborate with others as equal members of the interprofessional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.

Qualifications – External

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing degree/diploma upon hire

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • Active California state RN license prior to start date

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be from one of the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)

  • Resuscitation courses completed for the specialty area you are applying to or must complete within the required time frame for that specialty
